2023 NFL Draft Wide Receiver Rankings

We’re chugging right along with out 2023 NFL Draft rankings. If you haven’t seen the quarterbacks or running backs yet, feel free to click those respective links. Overall, the wide receiver class is deep but doesn’t feature any A+ stars. Let’s get right into the 2023 NFL Draft wide receiver rankings!

*just missed in order – Jadon Haselwood (Arkansas), CJ Johnson (East Carolina), Jacob Copeland (Maryland), Justin Shorter (Florida), Michael Jefferson (Louisiana)

30: Ronnie Bell (Michigan)

Classic Michigan wide receiver. Bell cracks the list as WR30 with back end of the roster potential. Not sure Bell has any traits that wow you but has proven he can get the job done.

29: Jalen Moreno-Cropper (Fresno State)

Smaller receiver with a little more giddy up than Bell. Continued to improve year after year. Just going to be some limitations at the next level and didn’t face the best competition at the Mountain West level.

28: Mitchell Tinsely (Penn State)

Mitchell Tinsley has been on the rise transferring from Community College, to Western Kentucky, to Penn State. Wish he had more speed but can go over the middle and make big plays. We’re still in undrafted territory but has some slot potential.

27: Dontayvion Wicks (Virginia)

Would be ranked much higher if he continued building on that momentum from the previous year. It was a tough year at Virginia for basically everyone. He’s just kinda there. Okay Senior Bowl. Okay size. Okay speed.

26: Puka Nacua (BYU)

This is where we start to get interesting, in my opinion. The BYU product had a really interesting Senior Bowl and feels like a possible Julian Edelman type of candidate. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if he’s the next sort of Hunter Renfrow type of success story.

25: Elijah Higgins (Stanford)

If Higgins were a tight end I would be much more interested. Low end big body slot guy for now with possibly more upside with a position change.

24: Kearis Jackson (Georgia)

Georgia guy but didn’t always perform like one. Kearis Jackson has potential but he’s maybe not as fast as I thought he was. 26-16 through the rankings marks 6th-7th round territory. Jackson is one of them who can function as a possible gadget guy for someone.

23: Parker Washington (Penn State)

Low end KJ Hamler who could turn into more with long term health. This guy can play.

22: Jalen Wayne (South Alabama)

Would be much lower on the list if he wasn’t related to Reggie Wayne. It’s literally the only reason I give him the benefit of the doubt. Might even be too high all things considered.

21: Joe Ngata (Clemson)

Waiting for the lightbulb to click. Has height, weight, speed potential. Maybe there is some hidden talent. We know Clemson has created them before.

20: Tank Dell (Houston)

Very small but you can’t deny the production. Maybe he can be the Calvin Austin for someone but he’s so tiny.

19: Jayden Reed (Michigan State)

One trick pony deep threat. Can do it and has enough wheels. Just not sure what more you’re getting.

18: AT Perry (Wake Forest)

Lump of clay type guy. Big frame with a long wingspan. Can run too. Never flashed as much as he should at Wake Forest with plus quarterback play. High variance on this one but could turn into a hit.

17: Xavier Hutchinson (Iowa State)

Typical Big 12 receiver that doesn’t separate enough. Garrett likes him more than I do. Not untalented but the overall ceiling certainly isn’t the highest.

16: Michael Wilson (Stanford)

Really showed nice ball skills at the Combine. Got bad QB play at Stanford too. Has more wiggle than he gets credit for. Would be interested to see what his numbers would look like if he played for a bigger school. Really helped himself during the predraft process.

15: Jonathan Mingo (Ole Miss)

The poor man version of AJ Brown. Still really imposing but not close to as freaky. Really raw but has tools to turn into a quality starter.

14: Bryce Ford-Wheaton (West Virginia)

BFW is similar to Mingo but has more freak show in him. Can make those circus catches. Runs way faster than you think. If he really figures it out the ceiling is high. He also might be completely terrible.

13: Trey Palmer (Nebraska)

Former LSU guy that’s just on the smaller side. Can really run. Are the hands good enough? Like him but too risk-averse to go heavy.

12: Rashee Rice (SMU)

I think I kinda know what I’m getting. Not going to blow you away but will just get that B report card on everything. SMU has a good track record. Not as long as Courtland Sutton and not as wiry as Emmanuel Sanders. However, gets open and can make plays. 8-15 in the rankings represents third to fifth round range. Need work but can become quality starters. Rice is no different.

11: Cedric Tillman (Tennessee)

Contested catch skills are a huge plus. He’s an odd mix. Strong and played well against SEC competition. Not going to make him a priority on draft day but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a much better version of Josh Palmer.

10: Quentin Johnston (TCU)

Biggest mystery in the draft for me. I think there is a shot he totally sucks. I like the tools but damn I’m nervous. I just couldn’t do it. I should say do it high enough to where I’ll get him. I like the project but it’s very much a project.

9: Charlie Jones (Purdue)

Most underrated receiver in the draft, in my opinion. He’s going to go way too low and become a steal for someone. Probably was more successful than any receiver going against Joey Porter. Has the speed and serious wiggle. Dude can ball. Just not going to get some freak show and is undersized.

8: Rakim Jarrett (Maryland)

I like Rakim Jarrett more than most. Big time recruit and has more in the tank than he showed at Maryland. Has good speed on him too. Wouldn’t be surprised if he has a Stefon Diggs type of trajectory even if he isn’t quite as good.

7: Kayshon Boutte (LSU)

Was my number one receiver prior to the year. Is a bit of a knucklehead and less of a vertical threat than past LSU wide receivers. Guy still has stupid talent and can be a game wrecker.

6: Josh Downs (North Carolina)

Love his separation ability. He plays tricks on you in a good way. Really think he will make it. Will be a really good complementary receiver for someone.

5: Marvin Mims (Oklahoma)

Ball of thunder. Love his vertical ability. Tougher than he gets credit for as a smaller receiver. Has the juice. Is the goods.

4: Jalin Hyatt (Tennessee)

Spitting image of Will Fuller. You’re welcome. Hopefully, he’s more healthy and available.

3: Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Ohio State)

Slot receiver and not as fast as you want but he can play. Has real talent. Just don’t think he’s as good as Garrett Wilson or Chris Olave. 3-7 in the rankings represent second round players. Guys that will turn into really good players and will help your football team. Some have more chance of going under than some. In the case of JSN, he’s as safe as it gets in this group.

2: Jordan Addison (USC)

Feels really similar to Calvin Ridley. The things he did at USC really blew me away at times. He’s going to get open and laugh doing it. Just not sure he’s the wagon to carry your passing attack. Top end WR2. Late first round I’m willing to pull the trigger.

1: Zay Flowers (Boston College)

Yes, I have Zay Flowers first. He’s hashtag built different. Not sure he’s pure alien like Jaylen Waddle but absolutely can be everything the none jail version of Henry Ruggs would have been. Flowers is good. On the smaller side but his movement skills make me feel very confident he’s going to be a hit.
