Rashee Rice 2023 NFL Draft Profile
Does SMU produce NFL caliber wide receivers? Well, they have in the past which means they can do it again. Will Rashee Rice fall in line with the success of Emmanuel Sanders and Courtland Sutton? Time will tell and that’s what we’re here to talk about today. Let’s review the Rashee Rice 2023 NFL Draft Profile!
I don’t have much on Rice from the Senior Bowl. A lot of the receivers really blended together. I didn’t see overwhelming talent to where he separated from the pack. However, he caught the ball really well and performed well for the most part.
Rashee, otherwise known as Rashod, measured in at 6-foot-2, 200 at the Combine. I really like his hands. Pillow soft and hauls in most of what’s thrown his way. Not perfect but the hands should be viewed as a positive. The Southern Methodist product also ran a 40-yard dash in 4.51 seconds to go along with a 41-inch vertical. We’ll take that all day.
Rice’s production at SMU also speaks for itself. In 2020, he led the team in receiving with 48 catches for 683 yards and five touchdowns, despite the shortened season due to COVID-19. He continued his success in 2021, hauling in 64 receptions for 670 yards and nine touchdowns. Rice earned first-team All-American Athletic Conference honors for his efforts in 2022 which served as a true breakout season. The SMU receiver notched 96 receptions for 1,355 yards and ten scores.
I have a firm third round grade on Rice. Not a guaranteed hit but someone that should turn into a regular starter. He’s not a spitting image of past SMU receivers but given his blend of size and speed, I feel good about his chances to make a roster and become a contributor.
