Jonathan Mingo 2023 NFL Draft Profile

I’m not sure we should be as excited about this one as we were when AJ Brown and DK Metcalf entered the league. However, Ole Miss continues to be out horses like this at the wide receiver position. What should we expect from Jonathan Mingo at the next level? Let’s review his 2023 NFL Draft profile!

The size obviously stands out at 6-foot-2, 220. Long arms and pretty big catch radius. Bit of a crazy mover too. 4.46 speed is legit. Might also be the best pure blocking wide receiver in the class too. Opposing corners really feel his size.

The production is just average. Then again, Brown and Metcalf never had overwhelming production either. Still, it just never feels like Mingo has that level of juice. Never a moment where he feels like he can hit that pure ceiling. During the 2022 season, Mingo had 51 receptions for 861 yards and five scores. It’s also by far his most productive year.

The recruiting profile also tracks. Former 4-star guy out of Mississippi during the 2019 cycle. We clearly have a talent. It’s just the other stuff. Why not more productive? Is he ever going to be an artist in his craft? Are we ever going to get a real route runner?

I have Jonathan Mingo as a 4th round guy. There is certainly a scenario where Mingo totally flops. There is another where he turns into a real WR2 caliber starter and overall gem. If Corey Davis was actually good, maybe something similar to that on the high end?
