2025 NFL Scouting Combine: Running Back Notes

This running back class at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine is LOADED. It’s actually statistically the fastest group ever to compete. This group at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine averaged a 4.48 in the 40 and that’s with scardy cat Ashton Jeanty opting out of it. Point being, there legitimately might be 25-30 backs in this group that can make NFL rosters and contribute in a meaningful way. It’s that deep.

We have a lot of talented dudes to go over so if you don’t mind I’m going to get to the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine notes on this running back group now!

LeQuint Allen (Syracuse)

Measurables: Height (6-0 1/8), Weight (204), Arm Length (32), Wingspan (78 5/8), Hand (10 1/8)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (N/A), 10-Yard Split (N/A), Vertical Jump (35), Broad Jump (10’0″), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 9, Week 14, Senior Bowl (3), Game

Did not run. Only jumped. Cuts are good. Should have been fast so why not run? Good feet in the Staley drill with quickness. Overall pretty good. Would probably be higher on my list if this class wasn’t stupid loaded. With that, he’s somehow an afterthought but good player that looks like he has pass catching skills.

Ulysses Bentley IV (Ole Miss)

Measurables: Height (5-9 7/8), Weight (201), Arm Length (29), Wingspan (71 1/8), Hand (8 5/8)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.62), 10-Yard Split (1.59), Vertical Jump (32.5), Broad Jump (9’9″), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 7, Week 11, Gator Bowl

Not fast. Was expected. He’s fine I guess. Feet are too slow. Lacks any wow. Couldn’t run under it in the wheel route. Not a slug but close to it.

Jaydon Blue (Texas)

Measurables: Height (5-9), Weight (196), Arm Length (29 7/8), Wingspan (75 1/2), Hand (8 1/4)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.38), 10-Yard Split (1.52), Vertical Jump (N/A), Broad Jump (N/A), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 2, Week 7, Week 8, Week 11, Week 12, Week 14, Conference Championships, College Football Playoff First Round, Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl, Cotton Bowl

Fast but nickel back. No on field. Think we know who he is at this point.

Tahj Brooks (Texas Tech)

Measurables: Height (5-9 1/4), Weight (214), Arm Length (30 1/8), Wingspan (75 5/8), Hand (9 1/8)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.52), 10-Yard Split (1.56), Vertical Jump (35), Broad Jump (10’0″), 3-Cone (6.90), 20-Yard Shuffle (4.06), Bench (16)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 10, Week 11, East-West (1), (2), Game

No burst. Cuts aren’t bad. Eyes need to be up in the drills. Not special at all. Route running best thing he did. Reaction time lacks. Couldn’t get to it on the wheel route. Didn’t like him at the East-West. Feels late to everything he does.

Donovan Edwards (Michigan)

Measurables: Height (5-11 3/8), Weight (205), Arm Length (30), Wingspan (74 5/8), Hand (10)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.44), 10-Yard Split (1.51), Vertical Jump (38.5), Broad Jump (N/A), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (23)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 2, Week 4, Week 10, Senior Bowl (1), (2), (3)

Can run but was a tick slower than I had hoped for. Definitely has short area quickness. Has a burst. Knee bend is nice. Route running big plus. Nice to see 23 reps for a speed back. Solid showing.

Trevor Etienne (Georgia)

Measurables: Height (5-8 3/4), Weight (198), Arm Length (29 1/4), Wingspan (70 1/2), Hand (9 1/2)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.42), 10-Yard Split (1.51), Vertical Jump (35), Broad Jump (10’4″), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (15)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 1, Week 3, Week 5, Week 8, Week 10, Week 11, Week 12, Week 14, Conference Championships, Sugar Bowl, Senior Bowl (1), (2), (3), Game

Faster than older brother, which is a win. Cuts are beautiful. Nice quick feet. Feet are there. One cut and go moves are very nice. Routes are wonderful. Checked the boxes here. Impressed.

DJ Giddens (Kansas State)

Measurables: Height (6-0 1/4), Weight (212), Arm Length (30 3/8), Wingspan (75 1/4), Hand (9 1/4)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.43), 10-Yard Split (1.53), Vertical Jump (39.5), Broad Jump (10’10”), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (4.33), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 3, Week 5, Week 7, Rate Bowl

Can run. Gears down on some of the short area. Not a great sign. Bad short area. Too slow going through the bags. Not sure what happened but disappeared on the passing game stuff.

Ollie Gordon II (Oklahoma State)

Measurables: Height (6-1 3/8), Weight (226), Arm Length (32 3/4), Wingspan (80), Hand (9 1/2)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.61), 10-Yard Split (1.60), Vertical Jump (34.5), Broad Jump (10’0″), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 2, Week 4, Week 5, Week 8, Week 14, Senior Bowl (1), (2), (3), Game

Disappointing 40. For a guy like him who is supposed to be a height, weight, speed demon, all he’s done is continue to prove he’s a fraud. Ugly cuts. Not a good player. Don’t care what you say. Slow in the Staley drill. Late to react and took the wrong cut almost ran through a worker instead of going the right way. Got yelled at by coaches for dogging in on the checkdown going too slow. His routes are painful to watching. I don’t even know what he’s doing. It’s all bad. It’s nonchalant while sucking at the same time. Totally blows. One of the routes he did a jab step in 47 directions that went nowhere slow as hell. His wheel route was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. Slow as dirt. Almost like he was hungover and not even trying. Should have been an easy catch and he’s five yards away from it for acting like a turd. I wouldn’t rank him inside the top 20 backs. Dude totally sucks. Have no clue what he has going for him outside of size.

Omarion Hampton (North Carolina)

Measurables: Height (5-11 3/4), Weight (221), Arm Length (30 1/2), Wingspan (74 3/4), Hand (9 3/8)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.46), 10-Yard Split (1.54), Vertical Jump (38), Broad Jump (10’10”), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (4.40), Bench (18)

Nice 40 for a bigger back. Bit late to react to cuts. Not in balance. Feet need to be quicker in the Staley drill. Going to slow to make sure he’s on it and then cuts wrong. Routes not there. Takes too long to pivot on the Texas route. Lacks a gear. Some of the routes were good but inconsistent. Not natural hands catcher. The on field workout was just ok and that might be being generous. I didn’t watch much UNC this year and this workout doesn’t make me regret not doing so. He won’t be in the top 10 for me.

RJ Harvey (UCF)

Measurables: Height (5-8), Weight (205), Arm Length (29), Wingspan (71 1/4), Hand (9)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.40), 10-Yard Split (1.57), Vertical Jump (38), Broad Jump (10’7″), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (4.34), Bench (16)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 1, Week 3, Week 5, Week 8, Senior Bowl (1), (2), (3), Game

So compact. Great job staying low. Fast with a burst. Beautiful cuts. Sweet knee bend. Quick in and out of breaks. Dude rocks. Low and on it. Tripped up a bit in the Staley drill but he’s flying and he’s on it to cut the right way. Has a build to him too. Going to be hard to find at the line of scrimmage. So low that he’s going to be tough to find. Most compact of the group. Every rep more of the same. Good, good, and more good. Knee bend is so there so he gives you what he gives you. Wheel route was awesome. Starting to really love this player. 16 reps on the bench press for a smaller speed back. What more do I need to say?

TreVeyon Henderson (Ohio State)

Measurables: Height (5-10 1/8), Weight (202), Arm Length (30 3/4), Wingspan (76 1/8), Hand (9 1/2)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.43), 10-Yard Split (1.52), Vertical Jump (38.5), Broad Jump (N/A), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: (My notes on Henderson go back years but these are for the ones this year), Week 5, Week 6, Week 7, Week 10, Week 13, College Football Playoff First Round, Rose Bowl, Cotton Bowl, National Championship

Unbelievably clean technique at the start of his 40. Different gear. Obviously fast. Complete back. Continues to show he’s the real deal. He takes your breathe away just watching the get off. No on field beyond the running and jumping.

Jarquez Hunter (Auburn)

Measurables: Height (5-9 3/8), Weight (204), Arm Length (30), Wingspan (72 5/8), Hand (9 1/2)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.44), 10-Yard Split (1.58), Vertical Jump (33.5), Broad Jump (10’0″), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (21)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 2, Week 5, Week 14, Senior Bowl (3), Game

Faster than I thought. Dude can play. Bit high in the cuts. Not overly sharp. Big difference with Harvey right before him. Short area cuts not there. Weird hesitations. Eyes aren’t up. There’s an awkwardness to his cuts. Not overly quick but not slow. Nice power number.

Ja’Quinden Jackson (Arkansas)

Measurables: Height (6-1 1/2), Weight (229), Arm Length (33), Wingspan (79 3/8), Hand (9 1/2)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (N/A), 10-Yard Split (N/A), Vertical Jump (32), Broad Jump (9’11”), 3-Cone (7.19), 20-Yard Shuffle (4.36), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 2, Week 6, Week 8, East-West (1), (2), (3)

Did not run. We know the deal. Hammer time but obviously dirt slow. Way too high. Not bending enough. One gear no special. He’s just not good. All power nothing else. Feet are below average. Can tell he’s a zero pass catching.

Jordan James (Oregon)

Measurables: Height (5-9 1/2), Weight (205), Arm Length (29 3/4), Wingspan (73 3/4), Hand (9 1/2)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.55), 10-Yard Split (1.62), Vertical Jump (N/A), Broad Jump (9’9″), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 3, Week 6, Week 7, Week 8, Week 10, Conference Championships, Rose Bowl

Long speed not quite there but more similar to Bucky Irving. I love this player. Great feet. Cuts are nice. Zooms short area. Nice feet. Aced the Staley drill. Short area bend and burst are really nice. If Bucky had dreads he would look like this. Smooth getting out in routes. Texas route sexy. Clinic type stuff. Very reliable. Dude rocks.

Ashton Jeanty (Boise State)

Measurables: Height (5-8 1/2), Weight (211), Arm Length (29 1/4), Wingspan (72 3/4), Hand (9 1/4)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 2, Week 5, Week 9, Conference Championships, Fiesta Bowl

Too scared to run. Riding the draft politics. Stacy Dales interviewed him. He used the line. “Combine is a once in a lifetime opportunity” Proceeds to do nothing at said combine. No idea how that isn’t a huge turn off. It lacks big time self awareness.

Kaleb Johnson (Iowa)

Measurables: Height (6-1), Weight (224), Arm Length (33), Wingspan (78 1/2), Hand (9 5/8)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.57), 10-Yard Split (1.62), Vertical Jump (N/A), Broad Jump (N/A), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 6, Music City Bowl

Not fast. Cuts are decent. Passable for his size. Trying to be quick but eyes aren’t up. Play speed better than real speed. Routes better than the other stuff he did actually. His passing game stuff made me understand more why he might make it. Mostly good performance but far from perfect.

Montrell Johnson Jr. (Florida)

Measurables: Height (5-11 3/8), Weight (212), Arm Length (30 3/4), Wingspan (75 3/8), Hand (9 1/4)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.41), 10-Yard Split (1.55), Vertical Jump (35.5), Broad Jump (10’3″), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (4.29), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 4, Week 7, Week 13, Gasparilla Bowl, East-West (1), (3), (4)

Way faster than I thought. Faster than quick. The cuts were stinky. Short area not there. Borderline vomit worthy in the Staley drill. Doesn’t trust himself. Everything since the 40 has gone downhill.

Quinshon Judkins (Ohio State)

Measurables: Height (5-11 5/8), Weight (221), Arm Length (30 1/4), Wingspan (73 1/2), Hand (9 1/4)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.48), 10-Yard Split (1.51), Vertical Jump (38.5), Broad Jump (11’0″), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 5, Week 6, Week 7, Week 10, Week 13, College Football Playoff First Round, Rose Bowl, Cotton Bowl, National Championship

Nice time for a big back who embraces contact. His jukes are sexy. He’s got it. Smooth powerful runner. Tripped a bit on the Staley drill but he’s low and fiery. Route running was there and caught it well. No issues with his feet. Light while powerful. Don’t think there are any questions here. Good back with power and elusiveness. Dropped his wheel route. A lot of good here. Only confirmed a lot of what I thought before. Really good player.

Corey Kiner (Cincinnati)

Measurables: Height (5-8 5/8), Weight (209), Arm Length (30 1/2), Wingspan (75 1/2), Hand (7 3/4)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.57), 10-Yard Split (1.59), Vertical Jump (N/A), Broad Jump (N/A), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (19)

NFL Draft Stock Report: East-West (1), (2), (3), Game

Slow. Especially for his body size. Too small to be running that time. Lots of meh. Waste of time. Eyes down. Guy blows. No fire to his routes. Dreadful in every drill. His Texas route was trash. Not sure why you even invite this clown. Couldn’t even get his hands on the wheel route despite the ball being right there for him. Waste of time.

Phil Mafah (Clemson)

Measurables: Height (6-0 5/8), Weight (234), Arm Length (31 3/8), Wingspan (77 5/8), Hand (9 1/2)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 1, Week 4, Week 10, Week 14, Conference Championships, College Football Playoff First Round, East-West (1)

Did not run. Would have been a trash time so no surprise. No on field either. Guy is a piece of trash in terms of talent. Wouldn’t have needed to see him suck on the field to confirm what I already know.

Woody Marks (USC)

Measurables: Height (5-10 1/8), Weight (207), Arm Length (29 1/8), Wingspan (71 7/8), Hand (9)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.54), 10-Yard Split (1.57), Vertical Jump (35), Broad Jump (9’11”), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (4.24), Bench (18)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 1, Week 4, Week 7, Senior Bowl (3), Game

Meh. Not impressed. Way too slow on the Staley drill. Texas route was his best drill. Route running better than his running drills. Still totally mediocre. Nothing to see here.

Damien Martinez (Miami)

Measurables: Height (5-11 5/8), Weight (217), Arm Length (30 1/2), Wingspan (75 1/4), Hand (9 1/2)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.51), 10-Yard Split (1.56), Vertical Jump (35), Broad Jump (10’4″), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 1, Week 5, Week 6, Week 8, Week 9, Week 10, Week 14, Pop-Tarts Bowl, Senior Bowl (2), (3)

Power back. Time more than acceptable for who he is. I’d say I was blown away he ran that given his skillset. More jittery than sweet cuts. Overall pretty solid. Moves around better than I thought. More bouncy than expected. Looks thinner than in season. Actually had a solid cut on the Texas route. Hands were there today.

Kyle Monangai (Rutgers)

Measurables: Height (5-8 1/4), Weight (211), Arm Length (28 3/4), Wingspan (72), Hand (9)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.60), 10-Yard Split (1.54), Vertical Jump (34.5), Broad Jump (9’9″), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 1, Week 5, Rate Bowl

Not a burner but more elusive and power. Cuts are really nice. You appreciate him more when you understand the type of player he is. It’s one cut with power. Not 70 cuts with speed. Not as good in passing game. Too wide and lost footing with a drop. Route running lacks. Struggled with the hands. Body catcher. He’s not Ray Rice good but he might not be far off. This showing didn’t quite help that comp.

Kalel Mullings (Michigan)

Measurables: Height (6-1 1/2), Weight (226), Arm Length (31 3/4), Wingspan (78), Hand (10)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 4, Week 14

Did not run or test at all. Become the Blake Corum in this Michigan offense this past year.

Devin Neal (Kansas)

Measurables: Height (5-11 1/8), Weight (213), Arm Length (29 5/8), Wingspan (71 3/4), Hand (8 1/2)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.58), 10-Yard Split (1.59), Vertical Jump (37.5), Broad Jump (10’4″), 3-Cone (-), 20-Yard Shuffle (-), Bench (-)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 3, Week 13, Senior Bowl (3), Game

Needed a faster time. Jumps were good. Not overly big to be in that area. Not super sharp cuts. More light. Feet aren’t bad. Got hit on the heels sometimes. Not blown away but the feet. Solid catching the ball. Rounding corners rather than cutting to the spot. Cuts not terrible.

Dylan Sampson (Tennessee)

Measurables: Height (5-8 1/8), Weight (200), Arm Length (30 1/2), Wingspan (73), Hand (8 3/4)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (N/A), 10-Yard Split (N/A), Vertical Jump (35), Broad Jump (10’4), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (13)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 4, Week 6, Week 7, Week 8, Week 10, Week 12, Week 14, College Football Playoff First Round

Did not run. Did the on field. Not sure why he didn’t run cause he should be fast. Cuts had some space to them. Solid short area. Aced the Staley drill. Pure mover is great. He’s got a jolt to him. Kneee bend is great. He’s lit it up on field. Night and day difference that shocks the eyes with Neal ahead of him. Has that extra half second on his side. Can go zoom mode no problem. Field workout was really good. Probably the best on field performer in this group at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. Only other one who has an argument is Jordan James.

Raheim Sanders (South Carolina)

Measurables: Height (6-0), Weight (217), Arm Length (31 1/2), Wingspan (76 1/4), Hand (9 1/4)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.46), 10-Yard Split (1.55), Vertical Jump (36.5), Broad Jump (N/A), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 2, Week 3, Week 6, Week 10, Week 12, Week 14, Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, East-West (1), (2), (3), (4)

Solid time. Can definitely run. Has a burst to his short area. Some lighting rod to him. Struggling a bit on the Staley drill. Odd cut on it too. Route running is ok. Takes a tick too long to do what he wants to do. Ate it on one of the routes. Kinda all over the place on some of that stuff. Mostly good but not 100% ideal.

Cam Skattebo (Arizona State)

Measurables: Height (5-9 1/2), Weight (219), Arm Length (29 7/8), Wingspan (73 7/8), Hand (9 3/8)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (N/A), 10-Yard Split (N/A), Vertical Jump (39.5), Broad Jump (10’3″), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 2, Week 3, Week 7, Week 13, Conference Championships, Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl

Did not run but jumped out of the gym vertically. No on field.

Brashard Smith (SMU)

Measurables: Height (5-9 7/8), Weight (194), Arm Length (30 1/2), Wingspan (74), Hand (8 3/4)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.39), 10-Yard Split (1.58), Vertical Jump (32.5), Broad Jump (9’9″), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Senior Bowl (2), (3)

Damn fast. Skipped the on field.

Bhayshul Tuten (Virginia Tech)

Measurables: Height (5-9 1/4), Weight (206), Arm Length (29 1/2), Wingspan (72 7/8), Hand (9)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.32), 10-Yard Split (1.49), Vertical Jump (40.5), Broad Jump (10’10”), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (4.41), Bench (N/A)

Fast but a smurf so who cares. Not a player I care about. Not sure who would unless you don’t pay attention. What good is he beyond passing downs? Speaking of which, drops and easy dump off. For who he is, the fact that this is what I’m getting passing game wise, this is an absolute joke. Waste of time. Guy is pathetic. This on field portion is borderline bad. Some speed but it’s hiccup city of nonsense. There is no way anybody thinks this guy looks good unless you looked at his 40 and kept it moving.

Marcus Yarns (Delaware)

Measurables: Height (5-10 7/8), Weight (193), Arm Length (31 1/8), Wingspan (76 3/8), Hand (9 1/8)

Athletic Testing: 40-Yard Dash (4.45), 10-Yard Split (1.55), Vertical Jump (37.5), Broad Jump (10’2″), 3-Cone (N/A), 20-Yard Shuffle (N/A), Bench (N/A)

NFL Draft Stock Report: Senior Bowl (3)

Smurf who can run. Late cut on the second bag. Needs to be quicker to be taken seriously. Cuts are good but he’s not lighting rod enough for his size. Way better than Virginia Tech in the drills. Routes are good.
