2025 NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 1

Get ready to read a novel because Week 1 for the 2025 NFL Draft Stock Report is going to be far longer than the version you got for Week 0.

The slate this week includes Howard vs. Rutgers, New Hampshire vs. UCF, North Dakota State vs. Colorado, Temple vs. Oklahoma, Western Michigan vs. Wisconsin, Clemson vs. Georgia, Penn State vs. West Virginia, Miami vs. Florida, Notre Dame vs. Texas A&M, UCLA vs. Hawaii, USC vs. LSU, and Boston College vs. Florida State.

Rutgers

Few notes on Rutgers while I’m here because who knows how many more times I watch this team this year. Mohamed Toure won’t play a game and will miss the entire season with an ACL injury. It sucks because he had some potential. Team captain last year with 9.5 TFLs and 4.5 sacks. Not much to say on it until he comes back.

Athan Kaliakmanis, the Minnesota transfer, is the new starter for Rutgers this year. Not that the guy is a world beater but he had a few moments as a starter right away for Minnesota last year. That’s being generous, of course. I watched the game. He’s definitely not an NFL quarterback but he might be good in terms of being good for Rutgers.

Finished the game 15/24 for 147 yards and three scores. He’s just really robotic, not overly athletic, and his touch accuracy stinks. 6.1 yards per attempt against Howard isn’t cutting it. Can probably keep things moving without trashing him further. Just not an NFL guy.

Kyle Monangai is a different story. Led the Big 10 in rushing last year and continued that momentum in Week 1. The guy just pops off the screen. There is no question he’s the best player on the field. 19 carries for 165 yards and a score in this one. Guy just runs hard. Bigger / thicker version of Pacheco. I really like him. Yes, it’s against Howard but once again we saw what was necessary. Will be one of my favorite sleeper running backs for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Monmouth transfer WR Dymere Miller looked alright. Looked better than the other receiver Ian Strong who immediately dropped an easy ball with no pressure right out the gate. Finished the game with a team-high four receptions for 37 yards and a score. Passing offense would have looked way worse if he wasn’t on the team. This is probably nothing but maybe a super late-round receiver to keep an eye on.

Let’s make sure to keep an eye on this left tackle Hollin Pierce. That dude is absolutely massive registering at 6-foot-8, 344. Passed the eyeball test. We’ll see how he moves around at the Combine but he was another guy that sort of popped off the screen.

Eric Rogers had a pick-six to start the game. What does it mean? Probably nothing because it’s against Howard and the throw was totally ugly. Still was impressive the way he snatched the ball like that on the pick. Has length at 6-foot-2 and Rutgers has produced NFL DBs before. Just something to remember.

UCF

Disappointing performance for KJ Jefferson in this one. You’re playing New Hampshire. Go light them up in both the run and pass game. Well, the latter part of his game is still lacking. Finished the game () and just looked off. Aiming throws and not natural at all. Best thing he still does is being a battery ram as a runner. I need a better passing performance than this. Not going to sound the panic alarm yet but NFL-wise, if he’s not going to take a leap in this area, it’s time to blow the candles out.

The numbers improved by the end of the game scoring two long touchdowns but it was mostly ugly. Finished the game going 7/14 with 164 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick. Also, ran one in and had 39 rushing yards on 11 carries. I just don’t know how to say it other than the throwing part of his game still needs serious work. If this is what I’m getting against New Hampshire, how are you not worried?

The two defensive tackles I mentioned in the hot takes predictably controlled the game. Ricky Barber and Lee Hunter are NFL good. The stats don’t jump off the page with either guy but there is a reason why New Hampshire averaged 2.6 yards per carry. Against better competition, those two guys will be worth watching.

We have to talk about these running backs. RJ Harvey is the leader in the clubhouse. When I say leader, it’s not even a race. Harvey finished with 11 carries for 142 yards and two scores. Looked like he was playing a video game on rookie difficulty. Looked easy for him, which is obviously what you want to see. I more so found it fascinating that Myles Montgomery was next in line for carries. Peny Boone did his damage last after the game was well in the bag. Is that the pecking order? Will that stick? Harvey seems like the number one no matter what but Boone was barely involved until it was well over. Boone did look good in his seven carries going for 81 yards and a score.

North Dakota State

Bryce Lance, Trey Lance’s brother, is on the team. Travis Hunter shadowed him for a lot of the game. Not that it’s a takeaway but it’s more so funny that maybe Trey Lance is playing the wrong position. Brother Bryce best moments came as a blocking wide receiver. He had three catches for 32 yards and one carries for eight yards. The actual quarterback Cam Miller held in there alright. He’s a 5th-year senior that might be another Easton Stick if he actually makes it.

Long story short; NDST actually put up a fight so I didn’t want totally ignore them but, yeah, they’re clearly void of that top-end talent, which is why Colorado ultimately prevailed.

Colorado

Travis Hunter is still a freak. Not that it was ever a doubt but wow is it amazing just how good he is on both sides of the ball. I got no problem turning the card in for Ohtani. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything like it. Teams don’t throw the ball to his side of the field when he’s a corner. At wide receiver, he’s doing crazy stuff like this.

I would guess at the NFL level he’s a full-time corner and part-time receiver. If that happens, he should be one of the first non-QBs off the board. The guy is a total freak. What else do you even say? Built different? Yeah, that’s obvious.

Shedeur Sanders just continues to remain super impressive. How about that drive before the first half? Just oozes maturity. Confident, in control, total point guard with self awareness. Has plus mobility even if you question how good it really is sometimes. Coach Prime said it all in that one sideline interview when he said, “I feel good about having the ball in 2’s hands.” How could you not? He finished the game 26-34 for 445 yards and four touchdowns. The one interception was a total fluke hitting a player’s leg and bouncing into the air. I think they lose by 14 if they even have average QB play.

What’s clear about this CU team is that Sanders and Hunter are so damn good that they really just elevate everybody else. The biggest positive: The offensive line looks average, which is a massive improvement over last year.

Dallan Hayden, the transfer from Ohio State, made his debut for Colorado. Never had a wow moment. Nine carries for 20 yards of meh. I liked the player at Ohio State. We’ll see if he can start to establish himself in the coming weeks.

I’ll say this: Jimmy Horn Jr. looked better than Will Sheppard. At least way more explosive. Sheppard is a transfer from Vandy that I actually had some hope for. He’s a big target at 6-foot-3 but couldn’t really get anything going. Just two catches for 23 yards. Horn wasn’t perfect and mixed in a drop but he was the one that made the big plays. The transfer from South Florida notched seven receptions for 198 yards and a score. The big plays Xavier Weaver brought to the table now look like it’s going to be Horn as that guy.

Trevor Woods is one of the few holdovers. He’s actually not a transfer and has been at Colorado since before Deion Sanders showed up. What needs to be talked about is that he’s changing positions. Now a linebacker and notched a team high 10 tackles. Fits what the NFL wants at linebacker now with the modern game but looks slow. Got cooked on an RB angle route and got lost trying to chase him. That play was definitely noticeable.

Not going to say anything new on Shilo Sanders. Looks like the same guy. Strong at the point of attack. Can help in the run game. Doesn’t resemble Deion in any way shape or form with the ball in the air. Probably a late-round safety best case. It is what it is.

Bonus: Max Johnson broke his leg for North Carolina. I caught bits and pieces of the game. Not enough to do a full deep dive on it but that’s an important note to keep in mind for the rest of the season.

Temple

Yikes. This program is just down bad right now. They had absolutely nothing going for them in the 51-3 beatdown.

Oklahoma

Jackson Arnold, by the way, looks like he’s totally progressed. I won’t get into it too much since we’re a long ways away from this draft eligibility-wise. Temple is also a punching bag right now compared to previous seasons in program history but Arnold just looks better this year. Quicker minded more mature. we’ll leave it at that for now.

I think it took about 30 minutes to figure out that Gavin Sawchuk is going to lose his job to the young gun. May as well put him in the portal now and cross him off NFL-wise.

This team has some talent at wide receiver. Andrel Anthony was kept mostly quiet. Jalil Farooq had one big catch for 47 yards. I’ll say this though… Deion Burks came out like a firecracker. It wasn’t even about the statline, which was six receptions for 36 yards and three touchdowns. Can I say poor man’s Tyreek Hill? Is that too far? I don’t think I’ve ever given out that comp before but damn he kinda looks like him. Fast but has a power element and is actually a real receiver. It’s way too early to start the hype machine but I was really impressed. Mostly just how powerful he is for a waterbug-jittery guy.

This game was such a blowout that we probably shouldn’t even analyze what happened on this side of the ball but Billy Bowman and Danny Stutsman are interesting players to watch the rest of the way on that side of the ball. An Oklahoma team that may actually have its most functional defense in a long time.

Western Michigan

I got nothing. Skyy Moore still sucks. You idiots still owe me an apology for that. I’m smarter than Brett Veach too. Moving on…

Wisconsin

This was a real stat in the game. Ricardo Hallman didn’t get thrown on one time. Not one target faced. Can’t even find him in the box score because they literally stayed away from his entire side of the field. This is a guy we talked about last year. Not a typical get that Wisconsin has on their roster either. A talented corner from the Miami area somehow found his way on the Badgers. Guy is really good.

I think we can stick a fork in Chez Mellusi. It wasn’t terrible but you can tell he’s evolved into something far less intriguing. We’ve been tracking this one for a while. He suffered that terrible injury last year and the guy we’re getting this year looks slower but more powerful. It wasn’t an egregious performance (19 carries for 74 yards and a score) but the quickness that may have made him into something looks gone. He’s clearly worked hard to come back because he looks stronger but this is probably a waste of time as sad as that is to say. Plus, Tawee Walker just flat-out looked better than him and was more efficient when given touches. Walker even started the game over Mellusi.

We talked about the new Rutgers quarterback earlier. Tyler Van Dyke is the bigger and stronger armed version of that. I’ve been over this several times but I tried to talk you out of any NFL hype years ago. Just limited explosiveness in the lower half. It just is what it is. Continues to show he doesn’t make big plays in the passing game (21/36 for 192 yards and no scores). Looks like Brock Osweiler of human evolution. Being tall is the only thing he’s got going for him. By the way, Miami’s offense (I’m getting there soon) just looks 3 levels higher with Cam Ward instead.

Clemson

Phil Mafah looks quicker but I’m still not overly impressed. Actually tried to get him out in space on some toss plays. It was still mostly three yards and a cloud of dust. In fairness, this team put up 3 points and he might have been the biggest contributor. I’m probably out but we’ll keep tabs during his last year in school. If anything, you’re looking at Audric Estime turd status.

I don’t have much else to add here. I actually do like some of the individual players on this team but they’re mostly all underclassmen. Dabo Swinney refuses to backfill the rest of his roster in the portal and until that happens he will continue to suffer the consequences.

Georgia

It wasn’t an overly sexy performance but the second half was a beating. Georgia won 34-3 and it never felt close even when it was. It’s now 40 straight regular season wins for this program. I’m just going to say it again because hopefully, you will understand this time. They don’t just have better players than you. Their backups for the backups are better than what you have too. That’s not a joke either. They just have so many dudes you can’t go wrong sniping their guys on draft day. What’s clear is these two programs are no longer on the same level. The Dawgs are three levels higher.

Branson Robinson got the start with Trevor Etienne suspended. That lasted about five minutes as we quickly realized the Dawgs had another stud with freshman Nate Frazier tearing it up. I was genuinely excited to see what we were going to get out of Robinson after coming back from the injury. He was about the only player that looked bad on their entire team. Just seven carries for 12 yards of meh. Good news is he’s a sophomore and can stay there a while but that was ugly. I hope he’s not done done after that old injury because he had real potential.

I don’t know what Dillon Bell is but they clearly trust him. Had a carry for 27 yards. Added four receptions for 32 yards. Can we call him more functional Jaheim Bell? I’m starting to think he could be a real player. Maybe the ceiling is tapped but why can’t he just be a piece of an NFL offense even on a part-time basis?

I just really like Carson Beck and I don’t know how you don’t. He’s way more mobile than he gets credit for. Big body at 6-foot-4. Got off to a bit of a slow start in the first half but once the game got rolling he calmed down and took care of business. Definitely worked too many wide-out screens in the game for my taste but still finished with 8.4 yards per attempt, 91.7 QBR and two touchdowns. That’s while probably not looking his absolute best. A solid B+ performance but never truly had to let it rip. A lot of that was game script though and not really on him.

I don’t know who my number one QB will be by the time the 2025 NFL Draft gets here but if I had to turn the card in right now… it’s Beck. That could change but this game certainly gave me no reason to think differently than I already did.

They clearly want to get Arian Smith more involved. Has some speed. Just never was a serious part of the offense in the past. He’s a senior now and it’s really go time. Colbie Young had a touchdown catch but didn’t do much else. Dom Lovett is just kinda there but also never looks out of place. I still think London Humphreys is their best receiver… but not draft-eligible.

Mykel Williams got nicked up taking a dirty chop block. Got his ankle tapped during the middle of the game. Left the game with a 20-3 lead and never came back. Initial thinking is it’s not overly serious but we’ll see if he misses any time. Played 20 snaps in the game and notched 2 TFLs. Would have had a sack too if it weren’t for the dirty block that got called for a flag.

I thought Jalon Walker was the star of the show and he doesn’t even really start. Georgia is so loaded at linebacker that it’s to the point where it seems unfair. Walker played 26 snaps and was just a menace. A lot of impact as a pure rusher. Led the team with six tackles (again… on 26 snaps), 1.5 sacks and 1.5 TFLs.

Just insane how many good players they have. Smael Mondon was back on the field and looked like himself, which is obviously good.

Malaki Starks is the best safety in the draft. That ranking won’t change. He’s so damn good and even played some nickel corner in this one. Got no problem turning the card in for this freak. He’s been a freak since day one and nothing has changed.

Before I close, a quick shout-out to former Jared Wilson, who was my center in season two with ECU (Please go support that series!). I thought he actually looked really good. It’s a veteran offensive line and Wilson filled in for Sedrick Van Pran just fine. Xavier Truss and Tate Ratledge should also be middle-round picks this upcoming year. Clemson only had one sack and their D line is probably the best thing they have going for them – AKA Peter Woods.

Penn State

Drew Allar just looks way better this year. Yes, last year was rough but I don’t just think people should give up here. Allar finished the game 11/17 for 216 yards and three scores. More than anything just appears that he’s processing the game faster. Then again, he also lit up West Virginia last year and it was just about the only game he actually looked good in. I’m going to leave it at that before I eat too much cheese.

Penn State has two NFL backs. Kaytron Allen didn’t do much but my guy Nicholas Singleton broke out a long touchdown run finishing the game with 13 carries for 114 yards. He comes in that Saquon Barkley mold as a plus athlete who is strong and can run. The recruiting background speaks for itself. Have no problem turning the card in for him. Price depends, of course, but he’s a real talent at running back that is way better than any back drafted this past cycle.

What a game for Harrison Wallace III. Losing KeAndre Lambert-Smith is a huge blow but Wallace looks ready to take on that KJ Hamler, Jahan Dotson, etc role. Five receptions for 117 yards and two scores. Too early to declare anything yet but a really good start for a guy who’s just emerging into the offense for the first time.

Abdul Carter was held quiet for the most part. Left tackle for West Virginia Wyatt Milum is an NFL guy and did a nice job keeping him off the sack total. I just don’t even care. Some of the flashes this dude has is insane. I don’t say this lightly but he really might be another Micah Parsons. When he explodes off the ball it’s WOW. Following the Parsons path too. Was a stand up linebacker. Now a defensive end. Same number too. He’ll have bigger performances the rest of the way but even the flashes where nothing happens he still pops off the screen.

West Virginia

CJ Donaldson was a big sleeper running back for me to watch this year. Unfortunately, he’s probably not even the best back on his team. The smurf Jaheim White just flat-out looked better than him. I only tell you what I see. Sorry if that offends you.

Just two receptions for 25 yards for LSU transfer Kole Taylor. Just didn’t see enough to warrant talking about more. I do have some hope for him though as a project tight end. Can’t teach 6-foot-7, right?

Miami

Loved what I saw from Cam Ward. Yes, he got burned on a throw going across his body. Otherwise, that was really good. Really good is an understatement. I’ll try not to sound like I’m blowing the guy but holy hell… I think he might actually be the best quarterback in the class.

He’s been underrated forever and was criminally under recruited but even now things feel different. A year ago, I said he was better than Michael Penix. This year he comes out and he starts flashing all these high-level arm angle throws. Jesse Palmer used the shortstop analogy several times and it was accurate. Totally in control and did whatever he wanted.

I don’t think people even understand what they saw. You have to factor in meathead Mario Cristobal. Justin Herbert never moved the ball like this on an SEC defense. By the way, something last year we saw Joe Milton get totally swallowed against Florida. Doing this in his first start in the swamp on the road in Florida… how do you not be impressed?

Ward finished the game 26/35, 385 yards, three touchdowns, and one pick. Also added 33 yards on the ground and had no problem picking up yards that way. I used to just like Cam Ward. Now I think I love him. Got a lot more season to go but I’m expecting big things the rest of the way for Miami. I picked them to win the conference for a reason.

Xavier Restrepo feels like the new Ricky Pearsall, doesn’t he? Slippery, reliable, with hands. He even got thrust into throwing a trick play pass and it should have worked except for the part where Samuel Brown, the transfer from Houston, was the one guy on the team who actually looked terrible. Finished the game with seven receptions for 112 yards and a score. Guy is just always open and a bail out special.

Damien Martinez made his debut from Miami after transferring in from Oregon State. I’ve been a fan of this dude for a while. Dude is just a truck at 6-foot, 232 pounds. Wasn’t the craziest showing ever but he did his part finishing with 15 carries for 65 yards. Was more efficient when Mark Fletcher and Jordan Lyle got carries. I think he’s NFL-good and should become a nice power back in the league. I think he could be the improved version of Rhamondre Stevenson but the hope is we see more receiving work in the future.

Elijah Arroyo, 6-foot-4, 245, had a hell of a showing. He’s been hurt in the past but reeled in four receptions for 89 yards in this one. Made some big plays and showed a burst most tight ends just don’t have.

Samuel Brown (insert thumbs-down emoji here). Bad first impression coming over from Houston.

Francisco Mauigoa… that dude is strong at the point of attack. Had a couple of tackles where he just stood the guy in his tracks and brought him down. No falling over for an extra four yard cheese on him. Also had a sack and a TFL in this one. I’m not sure quite how good he is yet but I don’t see how he’s worse than Denzel Perryman was right now.

Tyler Baron, transfer from Tennessee, is a 5th year guy who had a day as a rusher. One sack and 1.5 TFLs. He pretty much summed up this Miami team. Just loaded and veteran-laden. Might be a late-round guy to keep tabs on.

Florida

Total whooping. Billy Napier is so donezo–which was obvious in Week 1 last year when they got killed by Utah and got a penalty for having two guys on the field with the same number.

I’m sure Garrett will call this the weird fetish special over defensive tackles but how does anyone not root for Desmond Watson? I don’t care what you say I’m drafting him. 6-foot-5 and literally 449. Guy just eats up everything. Miami running backs averaged 3.7 yards per carry and they totally controlled the game and have a strong offensive line. Doesn’t that say something?

Bonus: Alabama is going to be damn good this year. I watched 30 minutes of the Bama game before the 7:30 window kicked off. Jalen Milroe is so damn fast. Right out of the gate, the broadcast brought up what I talked about all last year. Deep ball and scrambling ability is there. Absolutely terrible in the middle range passing game. He could have fallen asleep and Bama still would have won this game by 100 but still. Looks good eye test-wise.

Speaking of eye test, Jihad Campbell had some pop plays. Led the team in tackles. Flying around out there for sure. TJ Finley blows ass but the Michigan transfer made an impact right away with two picks. One was thrown right to him. The other, Sabb totally made a great play. For a guy who didn’t see a ton of opportunity on a championship Michigan team, Bama may have something here. Think he has some versatility to play nickel too.

Notre Dame

It’s scary how much Riley Leonard looks like Daniel Jones. Both guys with height (Leonard – 6-foot-4, 216). Weirdly better as a runner than a thrower. Once again Leonard wins a game with his legs. 12 carries for 63 yards and his ability to move the chains on key drives won them this game.

Still, it’s a double-edged sword. You can tell he got nicked up on a couple of runs and those are going to add up. Just like Jones who has failed to stay healthy at the NFL for that reason. How much do you want him running? Except for the part where if he doesn’t run it’s GGs. 18/30 with 158 passing yards is gross.

The crazy part is he can really move his feet and work his way through the pocket. Just can’t make a throw. Touch accuracy remains really bad. Has some upside but how much better can he really get? Hasn’t made any real strides in that area. I’ll say the same thing I did about Daniel Jones. Expectations are key and I have no problem taking him in the 4th or 5th rounder as a backup with athleticism that can maybe turn into more. It is what it is.

Beaux Collins is the new Chase Claypool in this offense. Comes over from Clemson. Just kinda fell out on him last year. He’s a big-body guy but just never wows me. Had five catches for 62 yards. We’ll see how he tests at the Combine. My fear is it won’t be pretty.

I think that’s an important talking point because Mitchell Evans didn’t have a catch. Is Collins just going to snatch all of those underneath routes while Evans helps a young offensive line block? It seems like that’s the case right now and if it is, you probably have overrated another Notre Dame tight end. How many of these guys have actually been valuable in fantasy… Kyle Rudolph for two years?

Jack Kiser is the new JD Bertrand. Has the communication system and led the team in tackles with eight. Until we see his raw speed numbers I won’t comment further. It just needs to be on the passable side.

I love this dude Xavier Watts. Every single game he finds a way to pick a pass off. It’s every game. Game I have him on my team?

Texas A&M

Connor Weigman… WTF was that? I don’t think I can even talk about the pass catchers because the guy never gave them a chance. I don’t know what to say other than the guy just played like trash. Thank god he has some mobility because that was awful and the numbers speak for themselves. Look at this cheese. 3.3 yards per attempt, zero touchdowns, two interceptions, 12/30. Total yikes.

I know Garrett already put him in the Hall of Fame but I think it’s safe to say we can pump the brakes on that. Here is the sad truth. Sometimes after these guys suffer a major injury like breaking your leg in half, they’re just never the same. Weigman was a big recruit and had some moments like last but how do you ignore this performance? Notre Dame is a real defense but that was vomit-worthy.

The good news is he’s a redshirt sophomore. We could be talking about this guy in the 2027 NFL Draft. It’s also the first game under the new Mike Elko era. Insert Bruno Caboclo joke here?

Le’Veon Moss started the game with Rueben Owens out for the season. EJ Smith, yes, Emmitt Smith‘s son, looked better than him. Just had more pep in the step. That extra half second of quickness. He needs more carries and will probably get more after averaging 6 yards per carry.

Nic Scourton didn’t have a sack but he made an impact. Had a pass deflection and 1.5 TFLs in this one. Notre Dame line actually did a good job. Wasn’t perfect but Scourton did his best to at least try to make plays. Could really have some upside as an athletic three-technique. Want to see more but intrigued.

UCLA

This game is on the list because I bet Hawaii moneyline. So close yet so far away. Hawaii led at halftime but blew a double-digit lead to lose by three. Regardless, this UCLA team is going to be a mess all year. They couldn’t have looked worse beating Hawaii by the skin of their teeth.

Eric Bienemy is a joke and so is Deshaun Foster. They should be embarrassed and they could have easily lost this game.

I do kinda like J. Michael Sturdivant for what it’s worth. Kinda being the keyword.

Hawaii

Ran out of gas in the second half. Ashlock the receiver played well in spots but too many costly drops blew the game. Couldn’t get anything going in the run game either. Great 45-minute team. That run-and-shoot almost had them!

USC

Miller Moss takes over for Caleb Williams this season. So far so good. The problem is it’s kinda hard to tell just how good he is. Lincoln Riley is so brilliant with the play design stuff. He’s had a top 10 offense every year he’s been at USC. Some of this is Riley’s offenses will just score points.

Woody Marks, the former Mississippi State back, had some moments. Almost lost a fumble but he has some toughness. Less juice than Marshawn Lloyd from last year but more than Dillon Johnson, another former Mississippi State guy. Finished the day with 16 carries for 68 yards and two scores. We’re looking at late-round territory here but so far so good.

It’s not just Zachariah Branch who is a freak show. He’s not even draft-eligible. Kyron Hudson and Ja’Kobi Lane both balled out. There is still serious talent across this entire WR room.

Can we just leave it at this for now???

WOW!

I don’t want to spend too much time talking about this trash defense but they did play better than last year. No doubt about that. Eric Gentry is kinda interesting just because of how long he is at 6-foot-6. So long and had a key pass deflection at the line of scrimmage. I’m not quite sure what he is or if he’s even any good but there are tools here.

LSU

Brett Favre. Yeah… I said it. It’s all I see when I watch Garrett Nussmeier. The guy just throws darts. He’s got gunslinger in him but man he can play. Ball placement is on it. Continues to just be efficient. Don’t care what you think, he’s better than Jayden Daniels. The only thing he can’t do like Daniels is run, obviously. Still 8.8 yards per attempt over 300 yards, two touchdowns, and one pick. Think he only continues to get better and the end-of-year Bowl game against Wisconsin was super impressive.

I don’t care what you say. This dude can play. LSU didn’t lose because of bad QB play.

John Emery!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kyren Lacy looks like he’s up next. LSU has a track record for producing great receivers and Lacy feels next in line. Can’t ignore this performance – seven receptions, 94 yards, and a score. Looked like that LSU mold receiver too. Combination of speed and route running ability. I would expect him to have a big year.

Mason Taylor, yes, that’s Jason Taylor’s son, looked pretty good in this one. Finding athletic big tight ends isn’t easy. Hauled in seven receptions in this one. Something to monitor moving forward.

Harold Perkins coming off the edge… holy hell. Thunderbolt coming off the edge. Don’t forget, he’s moving to linebacker this year. Obviously, going to be used to rush the passer on third down because he’s too big of a freak not to.

Sai’Von Jones picked up two sacks, two TFLs, and a pass deflection. Made some plays along the line of scrimmage. It’s not just Harold Perkins who can do things. This is a name to watch too.

Boston College

That was awesome. I’ll just insert this below.

How about this though? So Boston College won the National Title in season number one of the ECU video games series I’m doing with EA Sports College Football 25. The game knew dude!!! Thomas Castellanos is better than DJ U. Guy is a weapon with his legs and that alone makes him better than DJ U. I’m not going to get carried away here but if you’re a team that wants to replicate Taysom Hill, this might be something to dig into. I wonder if he can catch? Antwaan Randle El?

Treshaun Ward got revenge on his old team. BC ran for 263 yards combined and it would have been worse if it weren’t for the 3 kneel downs. This offensive line did a great job.

NFL-wise, defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku has the best shot. Dude was a menace all game. Two sacks and totally kicked the left tackle’s ass. Looks like a leader too. Just might be something real.

Florida State

I said this last week and now we’ve gotten total confirmation on it. Better start recognizing how key those transfers were for Florida State last year. It’s really as simple as this. FSU misses Braden Fiske‘s leverage and chaos in the middle, Jared Verse‘s raw power, and Keon Coleman‘s freaky nature. Better recognize what it means because it’s obvious they miss those guys badly. Jordan Travis included.

Does this Josh Farmer guy have any sense of pride? He sucks and I don’t care what anybody says. All ACC selection and he blows. 30 yards away from the ball constantly. Blown up in the run game and can’t make a play. That guy stinks and I’m so out. Bad body language too. Looks out of shape with bad pad level. No thanks.

Patrick Payton made one play behind the line of scrimmage but really didn’t do anything again. Maybe that’s not fair because he’s a pass rusher and his team hasn’t held a lead yet (as sad as that is to say).

DJ U…

But seriously, once again it was the same old nonsense. RPO quarterback who can’t hit the broad side of the bard and can’t make quick decisions. Looks ok when forced to speed up but there was a play in the game that summed it up perfectly. DJ U actually had a drive going up tempo, bad penalty slows things down, entire offense stalls. He’s just flawed and it’s never going to happen for him. Stick a fork in the guy. It’s over and it’s probably time to just send him packing. It’s that bad. He’s so bad you can’t make it up.
