Let me set the stage for this post because this part really needs to be talked about before I get to the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl practice notes for the National Team on day 1.
A: Jim Nagy is a jackass. If you thought I was being a hater before, I dare you to call me one now. Storytime in the East-West practice notes will tell you everything you need to know.
B: Because Jim Nagy is a jackass… the first day wasn’t televised. It hasn’t been since he went corrupt mode. I’m limited to the one hour recap show by NFL Network, which is horribly produced and shows meaningless interviews for half of it.
Think of this as a vibes post. A lot of this is American Idol anyway. If you have any idea what you’re looking at, it shouldn’t tell you long to figure out what’s going on. Plus, I scoured the internet for any possible clips I could find.
This won’t be a problem for day two and three but just a heads up on day one on what you should expect from this post.
C: We have the film for this year. I will be doing a full deep dive on the film a couple of weeks down the line and content will follow. It will be much more in-depth than what you re
Quarterback:
The accuracy on Jalen Milroe is horrible. Had a really rough day by all accounts. Can’t hit a throw. He’s never been consistent but we’ve seen plenty of the version who does his best to transform into bum Anthony Richardson. It was all the levels of gross today.
Riley Leonard threw the ball better than I thought he would but still lacks that power throw off the back foot mode you need.
Running Back:
This running back group is impressive. Can’t wait to see more of them in the coming days. Breshard Smith, Trevor Etienne, and RJ Harvey all dominated in pass catching drills. Etienne and Harvey are going to be higher on my list than others if I had to guess.
Wide Receiver:
Jalen Royals might have something to him. Looked good but want to see more.
Arkansas’s Isaac TeSlaa is not good. Shaky hands. Former D2 guy. I’ll be honest; I watched plenty of Hogs games. I don’t even remember him being a thing this year. I’m pretty positive he was like a 4th stringer at Arkansas so I’m not even sure why he’s here. Isaiah Sategna is the only one worth a damn and he’s not here.
Don’t listen to anyone drooling at the mouth over Jack Bech. If you’re trying to make him into the next McConkey… please don’t and save yourself the embarrassment.
Tight End:
Jake Briningstool isn’t anything special. Doesn’t have that extra gear to him.
Thomas Fidone II looks clunky and a waste of time.
I already know CJ Dippre sucks from watching this year so I won’t waste my time.
Mason Taylor has some movement skills. He has the best chance to be worth anything in this group.
Offensive Line:
Jacob Bayer did a really nice job against TJ Sanders, who beat up pretty much everyone else. Got walked by Deone Walker but otherwise seriously looks like a capable future center.
Win for Jonah Savaiinaea at Arizona against Shermar Stewart. He’s looked like he belongs.
Defensive Line:
The first step off the ball by Walter Nolen is stupid good. Needs to stay more on his feet but holy hell he’s just different. Scares me to death because now he’s going to get picked in a territory that makes me uncomfortable based on his production. However, talent isn’t the problem and guys like him just don’t grow on trees. Watch his 10 yard time at the Combine. It’s going to be ridiculous.
TJ Sanders is a good player. Hand fighting is there. Powerful. Dude can play.
Deone Walker is sure imposing but he still looks raw. It looks good when he just overpowers someone but he’s not totally dominating either. There are times where it’s like woah and he’s walking back whoever he wants. Needs to play lower and use leverage more. Has the talent. Needs to play with better pad level. Be lower to the ground. If he does those things, he’s going to be dangerous. The guy we’re seeing right now, if that doesn’t change he will be good but not great.
I just really like Barryn Sorrell. Just looks like an NFL edge rusher.
This group looks good in general. Tennessee’s Omarr Norman-Lott made a great play in the team period where he basically forced a fumble within 0.5 seconds. Has a hell of a first step on him too.
Shermar Stewart feels like the con job of all draft politics. Apparently, he’s done practicing. Didn’t look good from the little I saw. Lay off the crack pipe if you have him in the first round. They probably told him to shut it down while the politics remain on his side.
Linebackers:
Eugene Asante made some plays in the team period. He is not slow.
Cornerback:
Maxwell Hairston locking up Jack Bech. Did a really nice job without being handsy. Have a feeling this player will grow on me.
Something about Trey Amos. Don’t sleep on him.
Safeties:
Dan Jackson covering the Nebraska tight end well.
Johnathan Edwards locking up Arkansas. Who didn’t against Arkansas?
