2025 NFL Draft Stock Report: Gator Bowl

Ole Miss totally owned Duke in the Gator Bowl winning the game 52-20 and it was over in a hurry. Ole Miss probably should have been in the playoff and none of it’s hindsight bias if you have been reading my draft notes. Ole Miss has a really good time. Not sure we learned a ton here but we’ll go through everything anyway. Here is your 2025 NFL Draft Stock Report notes on the Gator Bowl.

Duke

I’m not sure what to say here but not having Maalik Murphy felt crushing. It wasn’t that they were just missing the quarterback that led them to nine wins. The whole team felt loss. They didn’t look prepared at all. It was a total boat racing and I while I believe Ole Miss is a very good team, Duke was just out of it too. Way too many times where Ole Miss was dead to rights short on a third down and they just out superior Duke and pick it up anyway.

Maybe it’s not going to happen for Peyton Jones. Sophomore running back that just can’t it going. Obviously, the cards were stacked against him but it’s not like he made any plays on his own. Eight carries for 18 yards of nothing. Maybe next year will be better.

Wouldn’t say it was exactly a dominating performance but this cornerback Chandler Rivers remains intriguing to me. A name to watch. One of few on this team.

Ole Miss

Big fan of Caden Prieskorn. Only had 26 yards in the game but it was the opportunities he got. Guy is damn good at high pointing the ball and moves well for a tight end. He can play.

Jaxson Dart is a rollercoaster. I’ve done this song and dance before but he begs the other team to have the ball way too many times. It’s not even a gunslinger thing. It’s a WTF are you doing thing. Sometimes it looks good when he lets it rip using his athletic traits. Kiffin does a good job getting the most out of him. When he’s not thinking and things are in green light mode, he can go put up points.

A really good game for him but it was also a walk in the park. I’m pretty sure the third stringer on Ole Miss could have done roughly the same thing. Finished the game 27/35 for 404 yards and four passing touchdowns.

A lot of his highlights look like this. He’s out on the move and throws a ball down the field that connects. When it’s going good for him, it looks like that. Against better competition (the Florida game was brutal) it ends up in the hands of the other team.

Got a healthy dose of Ulysses Bentley in this one. 14 carries for 70 yards and two scores. It feels like he should be a bruising back without the actual size of being that. Plays bigger but isn’t as quick as he should be. He’s fine but nothing special. Doubt he gets picked and if he does it will be very late. Wouldn’t discount him making a roster down the line though.

RIP to this Juice Wells. It’s not going to happen for him. Looks permanently broken from past injuries. No Tre Harris in this one. It was Caden Lee and Jordan Watkins who have emerged instead. Watkins went for seven receptions and 180 yards with two scores. Lee had eight receptions for 57 yards. Wouldn’t say either have even the potential Jonathan Mingo did but way to go out with a bang. Maybe we’ll see more of them in the predraft process but wouldn’t get panties in a bunch over either. The real difference maker is Harris. Hopefully, he gets healthy enough to work out at the Combine.

Trey Amos is good. We’ll leave it at that. Every time I watch him he just makes little nuance plays to break up passes. This is his third school and everywhere he goes he makes a difference. Was super underrated at Alabama and at Ole Miss, he’s their number one by a mile.
