Vendetta Sports Media is going to be bringing you guys our 2020 NFL Mock Draft, with a twist. Our NFL writers have taken place in a mock draft where they are the GM. Things will probably go off the rails but that’s what happens on draft day. No preconceived bias. Our bloggers are free to pick whoever they want. We put their GM skills to the test. A year and two years from now, we will review who each blogger picked. Are they better than their current GM? Time will tell. Here are the results of the Vendetta Sports 2020 NFL Mock Draft: Blogger Edition.
“I realllllllly wanted to go with Tua here, he’s the best QB in the draft. But it seems like it’s everything but done at this point that Joe Burrow is a Bengal.” – Alex Chick III
“Young is the safest pick for the Redskins. Haskins still has potential and they shouldn’t give up on him just yet. Young is a freak of nature and will feast in the weak NFC East.” – Jackson Law
“With the departure of Darius Slay, the Lions are very depleted in their secondary. I’m in love with Okudah’s playmaking ability, perfect technique and versatility, he’s an instant plug and play for the Lions, continuing the tradition of superstar Ohio State defensive backs in the NFL.” – Caleb Shaffer
“This is an easy one for me. If left-handed Russell Wilson is available, you draft him. Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley are on the trade block and we’re going to rebuild this football team the right way. The New York Giants have a chance to win Super Bowls again.” – Trey Daubert
“I picked Wills because Tua, the best qb in the draft was off the board already. The dolphins need help on the line and Wills is the best prospect in the draft for that.” – Jordan Dangle
“Isaiah Simmons just plays defense. Gus Bradley loves speed and versatility match made in heaven is Simmons falls to six” – Chad Bauman
“Derrick Brown is a monster. All he does it kill people. Brown has a chance to become one of the best defensive tackles in the sport and is one of the strongest defensive tackle prospects I’ve ever seen. I think we hit a home run here” – Trey Daubert
“I could have went defense here for the Cardinals, but the Cardinals do need some line help for Kyler Murray. Their offense only gets better with a stud at tackle.” – Alex Chick III
9: TRADE! 49ers trade the 14th overall selection and a 2021 2nd round pick to Jacksonville for the 9th overall pick.
“Jaguars/San Francisco trade: The Jaguars were going to have options at OT whether they stayed at pick #9 or moved down to pick #14. Moving down allowed the Jaguars to acquire an additional pick to help with their rebuild next season. San Francisco moves up for arguably the best WR in this draft, who would have definitely not been available 5 picks later.” – Adam Ramirez
10: TRADE! Broncos trade 15th overall selection and 2021 first to Cleveland for the 10th overall pick. Chad Bauman was controlling the Browns and Alex Chick III controlling the Broncos.
“Full Disclosure: I’m a fucking idiot. Chad Bauman, GM of the Cleveland Browns, during this mock draft, offered a pick swap, and I’d give a first and second for the Broncos 15th pick. I misread that as a Pick swap and second and just agreed. We did some maneuvering and I ended up giving a First next year with the pick swap. So, sorry Broncos fans but as a Raiders fan, fuck y’all. CeeDee Lamb was the pick to go here for me. Drew Lock looked stellar with only really Courtland Sutton as a receiver. Give Drew Lock two receivers, with Melvin Gordon and Philip Lindsay in the backfield? Yikes, that offense is scary.” – Alex Chick III
“We need an entire makeover for this offensive line. There isn’t one name I trust to protect Sam Darnold. That has to be the priority for us. Andrew Thomas is the number one rated tackle on our board so we’re happy to get him at 11. We envision Andrew being our cornerstone left tackle for a decade-plus” – Trey Daubert
“This one is a bit of surprise for us Raiders fans. With most of us looking to get a receiver at 12, the best 2 were taken off the board. CJ Henderson is the 2nd best CB in this class and while the Raiders had their fair share of problems in secondary, CJ Henderson with Trayvon Mullen could be one of the better young CB tandems in the league. There’s still so much talent at WR, I felt we could have waited until 19th for a receiver since the best two are taken off the board.” – Alex Chick III
“The Jaguars still land a solid OT in Mekhi Becton who can be a cornerstone of their rebuild for the next decade.” – Adam Ramirez
14: TRADE! Buccaneers trade the 14th overall selection to the Dallas Cowboys for the 17th, and 51st overall selections. Jackson Law controlling the Buccaneers and Jordan Dangle controlling the Cowboys
“Dallas selected Diggs due to his size and length. He also is the brother of Stefon Diggs and has history playing wr which can help on defense. This coupled with the loss of Byron Jones makes Diggs the best choice.” – Jordan Dangle
“Cleveland has OBJ and Landry, arguably the best wr combo in the league, but they lack depth. Ruggs and Landry can swap duties in the slot and on the outside but Ruggs will kill in the slot. Another weapon for the bakerman.” – Chad Bauman
“The Falcons were terrible getting to the quarterback last season, and the addition of Dante Fowler will be beneficial if he can capitalize off of his breakout campaign last season.
Kinlaw is raw in some areas, but with his largely dominating presence and play style paired alongside Grady Jarrett, the Falcons could create some problems for o-lines next season.” – Caleb Shaffer
“The gamble to trade back and Jones still be available paid off. The Bucs going all in on Brady means they need to protect his old ass at all costs. With Thomas and Becton off the board, Jones is the best option for the Bucs.” – Jackson Law
“Dolphins selected Jordan Love due to being the best qb available, he has a much higher upside and ceiling than Justin Herbert. And as a dolphins fan Herbert reminded me too much of Tannehill.” – Jordan Dangle
“Well, I took a gamble and it didn’t work for the best. I was hoping Henry Ruggs III would still be there at 19, but Chad Bauman continues to fuck me every chance he gets. Don’t get it twisted though. Justin Jefferson has a chance to be a really good WR in Las Vegas. Has the downfield speed that will entice Gruden, and he can catch. Plus, we know that Gruden and Mayock love the Championship Games after they picked 3 players from that game alone last year. Will be no excuse for Derek Carr not to have a career year.” – Alex Chick III
Jaguars: With all of the stars on their defense essentially being gone, Chaisson can function as a first building block towards the reconstruction of this team’s defense. He will have time to develop his technique over the next couple of years and the Jaguars assemble talent everywhere else on that defense. – Adam Ramirez
“The Eagles continue their trend this offseason. Fortifying defense. Murray flies around the field making plays with a high motor. He will kill behind this DLine.” – Chad Bauman
“The Vikings need a CB to replace Rhodes. Snagging Fulton at 22 means they get good value for a guy that has some areas to improve but is skilled enough to make an immediate impact.” – Jackson Law
“Patriots Xavier McKinney. Belichick loves versatility. McKinney has the coverage skills to play in the slot or his native safety. His instincts and range give the pats a ton of coverage options.” – Chad Bauman
“The saints could not stay healthy at LB last season. A young Pat Queen gives them longevity and depth at the position. With his speed, fluidity in changing direction, and coverage skills he can start day one.” – Chad Bauman
“The Vikings use their second first-round pick to snag a replacement for Diggs. Aiyuk is extremely talented and can make plays happen once the ball is in his hands. He’s also an excellent return man, so the Vikings get a great 2 for 1 value in Aiyuk.” – Jackson Law
“Dolphins selected him simply because he is the best prospect at center in the draft. He’s also versatile and can play multiple positions on the line” – Jordan Dangle
“I found my Earl Thomas replacement. This is the dream scenario I was looking for. Delpit is the best pure cover safety in the draft. Let him roam in center field all day. This is a good day for us” – Trey Daubert
“I guess we’re going to ride this Lamar Jackson thing until the wheels fall off. We went best player available. I think D’Andre Swift is a top 10 player in this draft. To be able to add him with Mark Ingram, it fits what we do. It’s the deadliest ground attack in the league” – Trey Daubert
“Harold Landry III and Jeffrey Simmons already know how to create problems for a hard-nosed Titans defense. A twitchy and powerful presence like Gallimore who’s always looking for the ball and never gives up would be the perfect addition to this team. Once again he’s raw in some areas, and will take some time to develop, but I love his potential in the coming years.” – Caleb Shaffer
30: Trade! Green Bay Packers trade the 30th overall selection to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for the 56th overall pick, 2020 4th round, and a 2021 3rd round pick. Adam Ramirez controlling the Packers. Jordan Dangle controlling the Dolphins.
“There was not one player who could impact Green Bay’s offense or defense immediately at this position. Moving back for a rich package offered by Miami and having more shots at selecting players in later rounds was the smartest move here.” – Adam Ramirez
Stud wr at Clemson, his deep downfield speed isn’t the best but he is a physical wr. And averaged over 20 yards per catch while also scoring on over 20% of his catches. Production= – Jordan Dangle
“With Bosa and Armstead locked into the EDGE positions, Blacklock can eventually develop into a solid replacement for Buckner at the middle of that strong defensive line. He doesn’t have to play immediately given how much depth that 49ers have at this position, so one year under Saleh will serve to greatly improve this player’s skills moving into 2021.” – Adam Ramirez
“Chiefs need help in the secondary and this is a big time player that can help them. Went with a cb because the departure of Kendall Fuller left a big hole.” – Jordan Dangle
