Trevius Hodges-Tomlinson 2023 NFL Draft Profile
It’s day three of the draft and someone related to LaDanian Tomlinson hasn’t been picked. Trevius Hodges-Tomlinson is one of my favorite cornerbacks in this entire draft. Does the TCU product have a chance to shine at the NFL level? Let’s talk about it in this edition of the 2023 NFL Draft profile.
I would have been willing to take Hodges-Tomlinson in the second round. I absolutely love this dude and whoever takes him will be getting themselves a steal. Tomlinson was littered in the stock report notes this year. You can check those out for yourself.
I see Tomlinson as a juiced up version of Avonte Maddox. He’s going to be an ace in the slot. Can play the deep centerfield if you need him to. Ball skills are unbelievable. He’s going to have interception production. Allowed 34.6 percent completion rate when targeted in 2022. That includes 18 pass deflections in 2022. He got hit with some flags last year for being too grabby but I’m not worried about that. He’s physical and wants to attack the ball. Really good tackler too and has no issues coming downhill.
I love the movement skills too. You can read more from the Combine notes. He’s really twitched up. Never gets stuck in the mud and fires.
I understand why Tomlinson wasn’t a first or even second round pick. He’s a small slot cornerback and I get that. There will be a defined role for the 5-foot-8, 178 pound cornerback. However, there is talent here and you better be careful about passing on day three. I like his odds to overcome the size.
