2023 NFL Draft Cornerback Rankings

It’s draft day! We’re up against the clock here so I’m going to get this out ASAP. Here are your 2023 NFL Draft cornerback rankings. Be happy with what you’re getting.

20: Rejzohn Wright (Oregon State)

19: Mekhi Garner (LSU)

18: Cameron Mitchell (Northwestern)

17: Julius Brents (Kansas State)

16: Devon Witherspoon (Illinois)

I’m going to start typing here. Can you people just grow a brain sometimes? Devon Witherspoon isn’t that good. I have him as a third rounder and that’s it. The best guy in that Illinois secondary over the last two years was Kerby Joseph. Witherspoon was never the star.

The list of true elite corners that measure in at 5-foot-11, 181 is basically zero. It’s Jaire Alexander and end of list. By the way, I liked Jaire. This isn’t Jaire. Zero star recruit. Really small. Didn’t have to play Ohio State this year so there is no bad tape on him. Didn’t run at the Combine because he’s not that fast. Bites on double moves and takes bad angles. I don’t think he’s totally terrible. Has a a bit of an edge to him but this is where he belongs.

15: Steven Gilmore (Marshall)

Yes, I’ll take Stephon Gilmore’s brother over Witherspoon. Not going to pretend I watched 30 games of Marshall tape but I know he beat the piss out of Notre Dame. Trey got a look at that game. Bit of a late bloomer and undersized but allowed a QB rating when targetted of 49.8. You see the Gilmore in him.

14: Tyrique Stevenson (Miami)

Former Georgia transfer. Not sure he’s a sticky guy in movement skills. Didn’t love everything I saw at the Combine. Big time recruit and plenty of speed (4.45).

13: Jakorian Bennett (Maryland)

Like both of the Maryland corners. Not sure there is much of a gap between them. I have Jakorian Bennett lower on the sole fact that I think he’s more panicky in terms of being grabby. They both beat up Michigan’s wide outs.

12: DJ Turner (Michigan)

Elite speed. Michigan has some cornerback talent and this dude fell under the radar. Read Herrick’s profile for more.

11: Deonte Banks (Maryland)

10: Darius Rush (South Carolina)

Same thing with the South Carolina guys. Like both of them. In this instance, I think Rush might actually be better. I’m putting them nine and ten because I don’t see much of a gap. Rush is just a former receiver that’s a bit more unpolished. Higher ceiling though.

9: Cam Smith (South Carolina)

8: Riley Moss (Iowa)

White dude can run. That’s all I know. He was everywhere for Iowa last year. Love him.

7: Emmanuel Forbes (Mississippi State)

Bit of a wildcard but the speed is unreal and he’s a gangly MFer. Make sure you take care of him and he will take care of you. Someone make sure to tell him he needs to eat more.

6: Eli Ricks (Alabama)

Former LSU transfer. Plus size. Wasn’t always perfect at Alabama but he has stupid talent. You haven’t seen the best of him yet but when it clicks…

5: Clark Phillips (Utah)

Love Clark Phillips. Is tough and can tackle. I keep going back to the Jordan Addison performance and I’m just not sure how everyone isn’t also on board.

4: Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson (TCU)

This is my bang the table for guy. You will live to regret the day where LaDanian Tomlinson’s nephew lasted until the 4th round. Trey wouldn’t let that happen. Have you see his movement skills? Have you seen the ball skills? I don’t care that he’s a slot corner. This is going to be the steriod version of Avonte Maddox. Steal of the draft.

3: Christian Gonzalez (Oregon)

Have done his profile. The feet are just ridiculous. I don’t know how he fails.

2: Kelee Ringo (Georgia)

Have done this profile too. You’re all too low on him. One of the best ten players in this draft without question.

1: Joey Porter Jr. (Penn State)

Also, have a profile you can read here. So damn long. NFL bloodlines. Speed is actually way more than enough. Absolutely love.
