Gervon Dexter 2023 NFL Draft Profile
Should you be a happy or mad if your team pulls the trigger on Gervon Dexter during the 2023 NFL Draft? Maybe. That’s probably going to be my answer here. There are reasons to get excited. There are reasons to poo poo all over the pick. Let’s talk about it and go through the Gervon Dexter 2023 NFL Draft profile!
I do have Dexter ranked on the defensive tackle rankings. You can click here to find out where. I only feel like clickbait cheesing sometimes, okay! As I said on there, some quick hitters on Dexter include: having a slow first step but somehow being this super imposing specimen. The 1.81 ten yard split time isn’t ideal but running 4.88 at 288 and 6-foot-6 is impressive. Faster than quick defensive tackle? Is that a good thing?
Size and length are a checked box. The positive is that I never feel like he gets stuck in mud. Did well moving at the combine. I wish he has some of the nasty that Brenton Cox carries around. 22 bench press reps is fine but it’s not excavating good. Wish he was stronger and almost needs to be. It’s not bad play strength but it’s the difference in him not panning out into a true stud.
I have Gervon Dexter as a third / fourth round pick flier. Former five star recruit where the light bulb hasn’t totally clicked. I also don’t think he knows how good he can be. I hope it’s not Kyler Murray syndrome and the landing spot may be the decider. Overall, I do like him and the basketball / discuss throw background is a plus. I’m willing to pick him but only if I created that surplus for myself.
