Justin Jefferson Should Request A Trade

Justin Jefferson Should Request A Trade

Maybe history should repeat itself. Once upon a time, Stefon Diggs wanted out. He decided (rightfully so) that Kirk Cousins wasn’t good enough. Buffalo pulled off a trade for Diggs and he got his wish. Diggs is now on a Super Bowl contender and gets to play with a real franchise quarterback in the form of Josh Allen. Now it’s time for Justin Jefferson to do the same.

The weird part is, imagine if Buffalo never makes this trade and just takes Jefferson. Hindsight is 20-20. As good as Diggs is, Jefferson is a different breed. The only difference is Jefferson should do this now before it’s too late. The Vikings have a ceiling and it’s time for him to recognize Kirk Cousins stinks. The Cousins supporters should be embarrassed and it’s time to call it how it is. Wasting prime years on this sinking ship would be a mistake.

Jefferson, 23, needs to get out now before it’s too late. The former LSU wide receiver has already expressed a willingness to keep him in Minnesota for the long haul. What his real approach should be is to walk into the front office and tell Kwesi Adofo-Mensah that he will never play another game for the Vikings if Cousins is his quarterback. Either Cousins goes or I go. That would be my mantra. Worst case, it’s riding out the contract and then forcing your way out after the rookie contract expires.

Diggs wanted out and it was the best decision he ever made. Adam Thielen hates him too and would want out if he didn’t attend Minnesota State. Jefferson just put up a 1,809-yard season with a mediocre quarterback. Imagine if he had a true ELITE QB throwing him the rock? If Jefferson ever wants to win a Super Bowl, it won’t be on a Vikings team led by Cousins. If Jefferson wants to be truly remembered as a legend, he will push his way out.
