Camerun Peoples 2023 NFL Draft Profile
Can you tell we’re in the home stretch when it comes to running backs at the 2023 NFL Draft? Cameron Peoples will try to make the leap to the NFL level from Appalachian State. Does Peoples have a chance at doing so or should you remove him from your board? That’s exactly what we’re here to talk about. Here is your Camerun Peoples 2023 NFL Draft profile!
For me, this one is all about momentum. In 2020, I actually thought something was here. The App State product rushed for 1,124 yards (6.7 per carry) and 12 touchdowns. He just never improved from there. Peoples looked like a tall running back that could get up field in make people miss. The last two years the juice just really hasn’t been there. Peoples rushed for 593 yards in 2022. A drastic step back from what looked like a promising redshirt sophomore season.
Both performances at the Senior Bowl and Combine were underwhelming. There is also a lengthy injury history to worry about. Former three star recruit without much hype coming out of high school. Never feels low enough to the ground to make the necessary cuts and the feet are too slow too. There is also no track record of Peoples being able to be a reliable pass catching option out of the backfield. A 4.61 40 time isn’t egregious but it certainly makes you question the pure speed.
Long story short; I’m just not sure there is much here. Outside of being an undrafted signee, I can’t possibly recommend Peoples much more than that. Especially given the immense amount of depth this year at the position.
