MLB The Show 23 is shaping up to be one of San Diego Studios’ best titles. One selling point has been the new “legends” SDS introduce with each installment of the long-running baseball game. With the likes of David Ortiz and Roberto Clemente appearing in more recent titles.
This year marked the return of Derek Jeter; as the collector’s edition cover athlete, for the first time since MLB 14: The Show. San Diego Studios released their latest trailer showcasing some of the highly anticipated legends coming to this year’s game. Amongst this new group are baseball greats Derek Jeter, Satchell Paige, and David Wright. Fans are rightly getting excited for the MLB The Show 23’s release on Friday, March 17th.
The Dawn of A New Era
The Trailer finished off with two historic names coming to MLB The Show 23. In particular Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire. Two pillars of the controversial steroid era are finally making their way to The Show. Nearly 1,200 combined home runs between them that total could be 10 times that amount through the game’s life cycle. Although their appearance in the game was revealed before during the March Madness tournament, fans of the franchise are absolutely ecstatic with this announcement. Not just for this year’s game but the potential for future installments to include other players like Manny Ramirez, Alex Rodriguez, and Rodger Clemens among others.
The Show’s reputation
San Diego Studios has seemed to neglect or otherwise refuse controversial players from entering their game over the years. However, with the game growing in popularity and financial success, it looks like times have changed. Overall with the many improvements to MLB The Show 23 on top of the legend reveal trailer, on paper this years’ game has the potential of being the best in the series to date.
