The Carolina Panthers hold the number one overall pick after their trade with Chicago. This 2023 NFL Draft War Room might be a little too straight forward. Get the quarterback and do the best we can in the middle rounds with the remaining picks. The best part is that Carolina has more picks than you think they do so let’s just get right into it.
I still don’t know for sure who the Panthers plan to take at number one. It looks like it will be Bryce Young. I think that’s probably the right choice for Carolina. I’ve comped him all year long to Tua. You can hate on Tua all you want but he’s awesome. Young isn’t exactly the same. He’s better off script but a tad less accurate. Smaller too. So good at adapting. I think he’s Aaron Rodgers with more mobility but less of an arm. Turn the card in and laugh at Chicago after you ripped them off.
The biggest reason Carolina won that trade is the fact that they kept their second round pick. It’s a massive drop off after pick 50. Carolina will get another good player at 39. I even traded down a few spots to collect more picks and still wound up with a really good player. I think that’s the move for Carolina.
Since they are void of a first rounder next year, they should really think about pushing some picks to next year. If they’re smart about it, they can really cushion that blow and win this trade by a mile.
