Chaim Bloom was fired today and it’s 100% the right call by the Red Sox. One thing that can’t be forgotten today is that media personality Lou Merloni ripped fans over and over again for having a disbelief in the team. Over and over again Merloni acted like a tough guy and mocked fans for doubting this team.
This team was never worth the investment. This team was never worth investing time in. This team was never going to be a legitimate contender under Chaim Bloom. The idea that anyone was defending him at this point was laughable. Bloom should have been fired last offseason. After back-to-back duds at the trade deadline, it wasn’t even a discussion on whether or not the guy should keep his job.
When Bloom was fired today, Merloni put out this video. A video that made no sense given the fact that real fans of this team do not care if the Sox finish in 4th or 5th. The only way you can describe this video is the fact that the season clearly broke Merloni’s brain so it went into a rant that accomplished nothing.
Shout out to Dr. Jim who followed me on Twitter. He asked the most important question of all.
Know what the crazy thing is. Merloni is actually one of the better ones in the Boston sports realm. That should tell you everything you need to know about why the sports industry is failing. I don’t even waste my time on guys like Tomase. Merloni actually played for the team and is supposed to have a clue, but clearly doesn’t. When the “smarter” people act like this, should we really be surprised when constant layoffs happen?
If Merloni had any dignity he would apologize to the fans he mocked. If Merloni was actually smart, he would be pushing for me to get the job since I seem to be the only one that knows what’s going to happen to this team every step of the way.
If Merloni worked for me and he acted like this, I’d have no choice but to fire him. Just know that Vendetta Sports has a higher standard of excellence than the clown show networks he works for.
