Tom Verducci And The Hall Of Fame Voters Can Shove Their Ego Up Their Ass

Was it George Washington after the Revolutionary War? NOPE. Try again.
Okay, maybe Abraham Lincoln after the Civil War? WRONG.
Those would be the words of Hall of Fame Baseball voter Tom Verducci. Not a joke. Very much real.
Verducci recently dropped the most unintentionally funny but also douchiest video maybe in the history of media. Verducci recorded a six-minute video of himself making love to a piece of paper that was sent to him via mail. Again, not a joke. Very much real.
This week I’ve mostly been covering the Senior Bowl and dealing with drama on the site. I haven’t had the time I wanted to dive into the Baseball Hall of Fame voting for this year. Tom’s video pushed me over the edge.
Enough is enough. I don’t give a single fuck if this post gets me in trouble. Just like the Stock Market, it’s time to take a stand. Tom Verducci and all of the Baseball Hall of Fame voters can shove their egos right up their ass.
Let’s just be honest; the Baseball Hall of Fame is a joke. Every year when the voting comes around, it’s not about the players. It’s about the writers trying to tell you how important they are. The reality is, nobody cares who votes for the Hall. You just wouldn’t know it if you listened to any one of these losers.
Tom Verducci in the most predictable fashion decided to make the Hall of Fame about him. That’s what these writers do. The video starts with Tom walking into an office which he probably uses once a year. He only uses that room to open the Ballot.
Could he email the ballot like a normal person? Sure. Instead, Verducci would rather film himself caressing a piece of paper to make sure you know just how much his opinion matters.

WTF are you talking about? It’s a piece of paper. You’re not that important. Email your vote like a normal person and shut the fuck up. You only have a job because daddy got you one. If you grew up in an urban neighborhood, you wouldn’t have a vote, but we will get there later.
This has to go down as the stupidest video of 2021 and the year just started.

If that’s not sucking yourself off, I don’t know what is. Again, talking about a piece of paper that 14 other writers left blank. A piece of paper where he walks off in the video and just leaves it on his desk. Fails to mail it.
Verducci isn’t the only loser that exists. Marc Carig of The Athletic wrote an article about how he felt so bad about his balot that he contacted a neuroscientist to talk about why he sucks at life. Not a joke. That’s a real article. Don’t click the link. It’s the Athletic. You have to pay to read a blog about a Hall of Fame voter feeling shitty about himself and seeking help.
I didn’t read it but I can probably guess what the neuroscientist said. It was likely something along the lines of you writers made so much money off of Barry Bonds and others who saved the sport to only turn around and demonize those same people. That’s why you’re all fucking losers and a stand needs to be taken.
The people that vote for the Hall of Fame are part of the BBWAA. It’s an association that was founded in 1908. This foundation is so old that the people that vote for the Hall of Fame used to spell the word BASE BALL as two words. If the foundation can’t even spell the word baseball right, there’s a fucking problem with the system.
The list of Hall of Fame voters can be found here. I don’t want to state the obvious but 95% of them are white. A good portion got their jobs because their dad or ancestor also voted. The same organization that was founded in 1908 that can’t spell the word baseball. The same organization that was founded 40 years before the Negro Leagues ended.
Again, I don’t want to go down that road but baseball is rooted in evil. Point being, the whole system needs to be overturned. Hell, it’s 2020 and now FINALLY MLB is recognizing the greatness of players like Josh Gibson (check out our interview with Sean Gibson).
Somehow we’re somehow debating about whether to include the home run king Barry Bonds into the Hall. What are we doing? Bonds is probably the toughest out in the history of baseball and that guy isn’t recognized as great. In no world will it ever make sense.
Instead of recognizing the greatness of baseball, the writers have made it about themselves. It does not matter what players have done for the sport. It matters what you can do for the writers.
Tell you what. Let’s create a wing in the Hall of Fame with an asterisk. Put all the Steroid users in a special wing. Then poll how many people went to see that over the dead-ball era. Home runs are awesome. Baseball writers suck.
Let’s stop pretending this is about righteousness. Baseball is routed in cheating. The Black Sox threw games. Sign stealing existed 70 years before the Astros scandal. Nobody cares. Steroids happened. Who gives a fuck?
The fact of the matter is, you’re never going to know if you kept every steroid user out of the Hall of Fame. Lenny Dykstra blackmailed umps. You sure we kept all the scumbags out of the Hall of Fame? We kept all the domestic violence people out of the Hall of Fame? We positive about that?
Bobby Cox is in the Hall and he beat up his wife. We’re cool with that but not cool with Steroids when everybody did? We’re cool with racists getting into the Hall but not including some of the great players in the Negro leagues? This is what the voters have decided. Then again, most of them are white so they don’t care about that part.
Here’s a bright idea; the great baseball players get in the Hall of Fame. The bottom line is you’re not going to prevent every scumbag from reaching Cooperstown. This is not the moral police. This is the baseball Hall of Fame. Curt Schilling is a scumbag… who should be in the Hall of Fame.
At the end of the day, we should compare people to their era. Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Mark McGuire, and Sammy Sosa are not only some of the greatest players of all-time, but they were also the best of their era. Steroids were not only fair game but encouraged. You’re lying if you wouldn’t have taken them. They made a lot of people a lot of money.
Should we compare writers to those of past eras? It’s not fair that modern writers have computers and the internet. They should be kept out of the Hall. It gives them an unfair advantage. Only the writers who wrote actual newspapers get into the Hall of Fame. Do we see how stupid this is?
All of the baseball writers can be exiled to Mars. This is not about them. This is about recognizing the greatest players in baseball history. The writers are not the moral police. Speaking of which, are we sure the writers who vote have never done anything wrong?
The entire thing is bullshit. It needs to end. Put Barry Bonds, Pete Rose, Curt Schilling, etc in the Hall of Fame.
