It has been a rough few years to be a Raiders fan, to say the least. A team that shows promise at times, but other times plays cover zero defense against the Jets to give them their first win of the season. With the Raiders, sometimes it’s about finding the good in bad situations and holding onto it. If you are a SimBull NFL bettor, do you want to take shares of the Raiders and hold onto it? We will dive into that here. If you want to check out our most recent coverage of the Kansas City Chiefs, click here.
On paper, and looking at their last few seasons, there might not be a ton to like about this Raiders team. They turned over a lot of their offensive line, the defense has been a massive mystery for years now, and you never know which Derek Carr is going to show up. But I would be remiss if I didn’t say some of the changes they have made have been solid (aside from a subpar draft class). The signing of Yannick Ngakoue should surely help a team that struggles with pressuring the Quarterback. Adding Karl Joseph and Casey Hayward Jr. is going to add veteran leadership in the defensive backs group. But let’s not forget the Raiders had the 8th best offense last year, and I believe that can be around that range again this year, even with questions about the offensive line. Josh Jacobs has had 1,000-yard seasons his first two years, Darren Waller is cementing himself as one of the best tight ends in the league, and speed demon Henry Ruggs III will only get better after an up-and-down rookie year.
I will lay out the reasons why I don’t personally like the Raiders: Defense, coaching, and the front office. Yes, I know I just listed the improvements they made. But this Raiders team was 25th in the league and even more concerning than that 30th in the league in sacks. Pass rushers are hard to come by these days, I hear. Next, I don’t believe in Jon Gruden whatsoever. The track record is there that he can’t perform late in the season, so even if this Raiders team starts well, there’s no guarantee they can keep it up. Then we get to Mike Mayock, who for his life can not draft, build a roster, or do anything productive when it comes to football. This man clearly doesn’t know what he’s doing with this team.
The current price for the Raiders on SimBull NFL is $39.51, the 8th lowest possible. If I was a betting man, which I am, I look at the rest of the division and see how they would perform. Tons of question marks around Denver, but the Chargers are looking up, and God disguised as Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are in the division as well. Wins might be hard to come by for dividends. But I have a funny feeling this Raiders team could surprise folks. I’m not suggesting go out and spend the rest of your SimBull wallet on them, but grabbing a share of the Raiders just might turn out to be in your favor. (You’re welcome, Alex Chick).
