The transfer window is still open and teams are taking advantage of it. Here is the recap on September 1 soccer transfers.

Barcelona FC

All eyes have been on Lionel Messi and if he can leave Barca. He’s been talking with Pep Guardiola about being able to go to Manchester City. However, City had already been making big transfers and was shocked by Messi wanting to leave. This means that they’re unprepared to pay for the star.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Guardiola advised Messi to stay one more season until he can leave on a free transfer. But Messi has been adamant about leaving so it’s unclear if he will take the advice.

Arturo Vidal has also been reported saying that he wants to leave Barca this season too. Some players already had to leave.

Sevilla made headlines by resigning Ivan Rakitic. After six years away, he is heading back for the club. The deal was €1.5 million with €9 million in performance add-ons.

Luis Suarez has been another hot player on the market. PSG has already made contact with him after having some extra money on the wage bill. After Edinson Cavani left and Thiago Silva joined Chelsea, they have more money to spend. They want him to reunite with Neymar and play with Kylian Mbappe.

Juventus has also been on the list of candidates for Suarez. They are wanting to get rid of Higuain and would need to replace him. But there are also ties to Suarez maybe going to MLS.

Arsenal

Arsenal announced that Gabriel Magalhaes is one of their soccer transfers this morning. They signed the defender from Ligue 1 for £27 million. He is the fourth transfer for the club.

Pablo Mari and Cedric Flamengo already joined. Then Arsenal was able to get Willian from Chelsea on a free transfer.

The window for soccer transfers is still open until Oct. 5. This gives teams plenty of time to finish up their other signings of the year.
