Chelsea’s headliners seem to get more serious. The big news started when Timo Werner announced his move to Chelsea, then Hakim Ziyech followed. The Blues are also closing in on the deal with Kai Havertz. Now, Chelsea has closed the deal on Thiago Silva.

Silva was set to leave PSG on a free transfer after eight years with them. He signed a one-year deal after turning down a two-year deal from Fiorentina. Although the former PSG captain is 36, he still feels like he can play for another three to four years.

For the 2019-20 season, Silva was able to have a 95.5% pass accuracy. In his 204 appearances for the club, he started 200 of them. This meant he moved past Blaise Matuidi and landed in 14th next to Dominique Rocheteau for the club’s all-time appearance records.

PSG was also able to close on 154 wins with Silva on the team. The club won 73.5% of their game with Silva and lost 66.3% of the ones he wasn’t in.

Although these statistics are great, Ligue 1 and Premier League are very different. This will be a big shift for Silva to deal with. But hopefully, the other Chelsea signing can help the transition.

A few days ago, Chelsea signed Ben Chilwell from Leicester for £50 million. Out of 99 appearances in EPL, Chilwell has had four goals and nine assists. He has also had 24 clean slate games.

Between Silva and Chilwell, the Blues defense will start to rebuild itself. The offense is clean, but the backline has needed some help. Now the only moves for Chelsea to make are to finalize the Havertz move and find a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

EPL is set to start on September 12th. Chelsea’s first game of the season is on the 14th against Brighton. Teams better watch out this year for the Blues new team, they’re coming for the title.
