Adam Theilen put it best. This is an offense issue, not a Bryce Young issue. Not that Young has played well, but it’s pretty obvious he’s been set up to fail since day one. I could come on here and brag about how I ranked CJ Stroud as the better prospect. I could easily do that… but there’s really no point.
Also, if you haven’t figured out that I’m miles better than the rest of the industry in regards to the NFL Draft, that’s a you problem. Stroud was always the pick and if you are really smart, you should criticize the Bears for passing on him too… which nobody will do but that’s okay.
Success at the quarterback position has a lot to do with situation and environment. Stroud likely would have been the better player regardless for all of the reasons I talked about before the draft, but it’s impossible to talk about Young without bringing up how dysfunctional this Panthers team has been. This entire organization is a total joke and several members who work for the team should be thrown in jail immediately.
This starts from the top down. I could spend 10,000 words talking about how big of an idiot David Tepper is. It’s not really necessary because I think everyone has figured that out by now. He’s done nothing but make a fool out of himself since taking over the team.
What really should be talked about is the new cast of characters Tepper hired to try to turn things around. Does anybody know how Dan Morgan got a promotion for being a vital voice in the room for taking Young? It also took about five seconds to realize he has no clue how to run a team. His draft was horrific and the clip of him negotiating against himself for Brian Burns is next-level terrible (something we talked about in the Hard Knocks video I did).
By the way, what gives Dave Canales the authority to make this call? We’re talking about a guy who got his NFL start as an assistant strength coach for Seattle. Pete Carroll never promoted him to a serious role. Canales finally got an opportunity with Tampa last year and then ranked dead last in rushing. He was never ready for this job and he’s somehow making Frank Reich look good, which I thought was impossible.
What’s the move here and why isn’t Canales getting any heat for playing Young in one preseason drive? Why wasn’t Young playing in the preseason to get up to speed on the new offense? Is he really that delusional to think this thing will look better with 37-year-old Andy Dalton? When Dalton stinks because the situation is terrible, then what?
If you’re a top quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft, I don’t know how you accept going there. It’s career suicide until further notice. Tepper, Morgan, Canales, etc should all be in jail for allowing this to happen.
