How Did Dan Morgan Win The Power Struggle With The Panthers?
Dan Morgan is now the President of Football operations and the general manager of the Carolina Panthers. It’s the same team that drafted him in the first round in the 2001 NFL Draft out of Miami. I just want to know how he got this job. What did Morgan do to win the power struggle in Carolina?
I understand how Dave Canales got his job. Baker Mayfield played like trash for Carolina. A year later, he’s winning a playoff game and throws 28 touchdowns. Let’s go hire the guy that made Baker play better so that Bryce Young has a fighting chance.
I get all that. Perfectly sound logic.
Now let’s run through that same process for Dan Morgan. Keep in mind, he was in the building after watching this team have the worst record in the league.
I just want to know how Morgan got his job. Did he throw a riot in the meeting when the Panthers passed on CJ Stroud? Was Morgan a differing voice in the building or did he just get the closest to David Tepper? Hey, he played for our team so let’s give him the job to run it. Is that how that worked?
I just want to know how this all went down. Morgan really has no experience doing this kind of job. I just want to know how he got it. Based on the way Tepper has operated in Carolina, I have no faith that this was a judicious process to find the right football mind.
