Should you stash Luke Musgrave in your dynasty league? Let’s have a much needed talk on the new Packers tight end. (Wm. Glasheen/USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin / USA TODAY NETWORK)

Luke Musgrave: A Smart Stash In Dynasty Leagues?

The more time goes on, I’m starting to think that Luke Musgrave is going to be the fantasy darling from the 2023 NFL Draft tight end class. I had Musgrave as TE4 for my rookie rankings. I think I’m probably low as we sit here today. The Packers’ tight end is starting to look like an interesting stash play in dynasty and keeper league fantasy football formats.

For starters, Musgrave has essentially already established himself as the starter in Green Bay. The Packers drafted two tight ends in the 2023 NFL Draft. I think they have figured out that Tucker Kraft stinks. I knew that six months ago, but whatever. The thing that matters in terms of fantasy is the fact that Green Bay has now figured that part out. During Week 2 of the preseason, Musgrave played 100% of the snaps with the starters to go along with an 89% route participation rate. He’s the guy there.

You might never get Musgrave at this price again. He would have gone significantly higher in the draft if it weren’t for injury. You can read my full draft profile here. 6-foot-6, 253 and runs a 4.61. Has NFL bloodlines too.

Your biggest fear here is injury and if the price is free, Musgrave is totally worth the gamble. Especially at the tight end position where it’s almost impossible to find real contributors. The Packers have their core of pass catchers including Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Musgrave. For dynasty leagues, having a piece of that isn’t a bad idea.

Remember the name Luke Musgrave. Rookie tight ends usually don’t produce in fantasy but expect to see some flashes this year. Down the road? He’s absolutely worth the stash. Tight ends aren’t easy to find and a diamond in the rough may be staring you in the face.
