Francis Ngannou, Jon Jones argue over ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ title

In the world of MMA, the title of ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ is usually bestowed upon the UFC heavyweight champion. It is no longer that simple, however. Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones are currently in a debate over who is the rightful owner of the title.

This debate was sparked after Ngannou signed a contract with the PFL and made posted a YouTube video to his channel discussing his contract, claiming he was the baddest man on the planet.

“No matter what other promoters say,” Ngannou said. “No matter what some fighters say. No matter what media say. Who do you think is the baddest mother f—-r on the planet? Me.”

As you could have likely guessed, Jones did not appreciate that claim, sparking a Twitter back and forth between the two.

This is not the first time that Ngannou and Jones have exchanged words. Actually, it happens quite regularly. To start, Jones has dissed Ngannou, claimed he has not looked impressive, and slammed him for not accepting a fight. That is just a start.

The best part of this argument is that it didn’t have to happen. The beautiful thing is that Jones and Ngannou could have fought which would have solved this argument. What is not beautiful is that both sides played a part in this bout falling apart despite it being a fight that fans craved.

It all started when Jones opted to take a three-year layoff to prepare for the heavyweight division. Meanwhile, Ngannou opted to leave the UFC when the fight was possible, and the UFC can get some flack for not offering Ngannou a better contract.

This fight is practically dead now that Ngannou signed with the PFL. This is because Jones recently signed an eight-fight deal with the UFC. With both being under contract with competing organizations, they can only fight if UFC and PFL co-promotion an event or if one of them gets out of their contract. Both of those options are incredibly unlikely.

Who do you think is the baddest man on the planet? Is it Jones or Ngannou? Regardless, of your opinion, we will never get to learn what the true answer is.
