Josh Hart Proved He Has Self-Awareness
Josh Hart is a real one. He’s a great teammate and isn’t afraid to drink breast milk. He’s the type of grinder that every team needs. The former Villanova product isn’t exactly thrilled with the role he has in New York but it’s pretty obvious that he has great self-awareness.
Hart, 28, is 5th in minutes and 5th in shot attempts on the team. He would actually be lower if it weren’t for the trade to acquire OG Anunoby. Hart spoke about his role with the Knicks and just sounded so damn mature.
“Yeah, it took me 40 games. It’s a process,” said Hart, who entered Thursday’s game against the Nuggets averaging just 6.5 shot attempts. “Obviously it’s not something I thought it was going to be like entering the year. But it’s where we’re at. Now it’s just you got to sacrifice and do some of that.”
“Just be cool with whatever the team needs whether I like it or not,” Hart said. “Things can change, you never know. But that’s kind of what they needed me to do and kind of like, all right I’ll do it.”
All of the things I spoke about having problems with Terry Rozier’s game. Hart doesn’t have any of those issues. He’s also arguably the best rebounding guard in the NBA notching 6.5 per game in 28.1 minutes.
The Knicks are 4th in the East with a record of 28-17. They’re also on a five-game heater and look improved after landing OG. Let’s just not overlook how important Hart is to this team. It’s one thing to have good players. When your role players buy-in like this, you’re going to have success.
