Do The Jaguars Want To Re-Sign Calvin Ridley?
It sounds like the Jaguars are going to hit pass rusher Josh Allen with the franchise tag. That means Calvin Ridley seems destined to hit the open market. Will Jacksonville be able to re-sign Ridley once he hits free agency? General manager Trent Baalke weighed in on the matter.
“When you bring in somebody in that hasn’t been a part of football for over a year and a half, you gotta knock the rust off,” Baalke said. “He did that and, at times, he showed who he was and what he used to and what he can be. The sky’s the limit. He’s only going to get better because of the way he works. When you love something as much as he loves football, you can’t help but get better. We would love to have Calvin back. We are going to work toward that. What that means is, I don’t know right now.”
Ridley, 29, reeled in 76 receptions for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns. Not exactly a bad first impression. It’s not like you want to exactly take weapons away from Trevor Lawrence either.
Was Ridley rusty at all after coming back from his gambling suspension? Will the former Alabama product come back even stronger in 2024? I think that’s a very important question when it comes to all of this. If Ridley can produce even more Jacksonville may want to ensure this extension gets done. If Ridley is going to start the downslide, maybe they don’t want to get into a bidding war.
How much is Ridley worth paying? Based on how these teams overpay receivers in free agency, it’s hard to imagine Ridley not having plenty of suitors.
