OG Anunoby traded to New York Knicks

After a long awaited time, the Toronto Raptors have shipped off OG Anunoby in a blockbuster trade to the New York Knicks. In return, the Raptors are receiving a package including RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and draft considerations. In addition to Barrett and Quickley, the Raptors are also receiving a 2024 second-round pick via the Detroit Pistons. Adrian Wojnarowski reports of the news.

Anunoby has been on the trade block for the last two years while on the Raptors. Rumors were speculating that the former Indiana Univeristy guard was a for sure move coming last year’s trade deadline. But a year later, the Raptors got the deal they wanted.

Anunoby isn’t the only player heading towards the Knicks. New York is gaining more depth while also sending away a struggling Barrett and Quickley. In addition, Malachi Flynn and Precious Achiuwa are heading to the big apple with Anunoby.

Anunoby has been himself all season long. Putting up consistent numbers on consistent shooting. The 6-foot-7 small forward is averaging a cool 15.1 points from the field on 48.9% shooting. With a Raptors full of forwards, it became a matter of time before the Raptors moved on from the former 23rd overall pick.

As for Barrett, the Canadian shooting guard is facing the lowest amount of minutes he’s seen in his NBA career. Playing under 30 minutes on average for the first time in his career. On the other hand, Quickley has been a great role player for the Knicks. Shooting career highs in both field goals and three point percentage, including scoring a career high 15 points per game.

How did this trade workout for both teams? Let us know in the comments down below.
