Number Of Fights On Jon Jones’ New UFC Deal Announced

The combat sports world has been waiting for any news regarding Jon Jones and a potential return to the UFC for over a year. Well boy, did we get a whirlwind of news in 24 hours. We first heard news that a potential return was in the works, but now it is confirmed through Jon Jones himself as he told a reporter he is set to fight Ciryl Gane in March. See the video.

This fight between Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane has offically been confirmed, sources tell Shaun Al-Shatti of MMAFighting.com. Many believed that the opponent for Jones upon his return would be Francis Ngannou, but now it seems we will never get that fight in the UFC, as the company has surprisingly cut ties with the former UFC Heavyweight Champion. The last bit of news we received was that Jones reportedly got a new deal with the UFC.

Jon Jones isn’t going anywhere. The details have come out on the new deal Jones signed, and he is signed on for eight fights with the UFC. With Jones now moving to Heavyweight, this opens so many doors of possibility for “Bones” for future fights. Jones fighting Tom Aspinall? Yes please. Jones going one on one with Curtis Blaydes? Sergey Pavlovich? Least we forget the greatest Heavyweight of all time, Stipe Miocic. The options are endless. Jones ran through Light Heavyweight, it is not time to see what he is made of at Heavyweight.

Jon Jones at Heavyweight is a cash cow. I can only imagine the gate that card is going to do come fight night. MMA fans have been clamoring to see Jones in this weight class for almost a decade now, and it is finally on the horizon. The fight with Gane will be a fantastic test for Jones, as Gane is a former title contender in his own right. UFC 285 can’t come soon enough.
