Bears Acquire Chase Claypool For Second Round Pick

Ryan Poles exposed himself as a moron today. Trading away Roquan Smith for a second rounder to spark the rebuild was understandable. However, re-routing that pick to Pittsburgh for Chase Claypool is classic Bears! You just can’t make it up if you tried.

Yes, you heard that correctly. The down bad 3-5 Chicago are sending a second round pick to Pittsburgh for wide receiver Chase Claypool. Hey, at least Justin Fields has an extra weapon now! Is that what we’re going with?

Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to report the news!

It’s just so funny the way this trade went down. Of course, once upon a time, I called Cole Kmet a bust and Chase Claypool as the way better talent at Notre Dame. The Bears drafted Kmet over Claypool in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft in clear defiance of my draft board. Fast forward years last, Kmet is a bust, and Chicago damages their future rebuild by coffing up a second rounder for Claypool after burning valuable years of the rookie contract.

You can’t make it up. Trey continues to win and the losers pretend as if they know better. Hilarious.

We’ve been all over this from the start. The Pickens selection closed the door on Claypool.

If we’re being real, we knew the day that Claypool’s Steelers era was going to end. He announced his death himself actually. The day that George Pickens entered the building, the seat got warm for Claypool. Just a reality of the situation. Pittsburgh was smart to recoup the second round asset. Better yet, the Steelers are getting the Bears second rounder, not the Ravens’ pick via the Roquan Smith trade.

Claypool, 24, ends his Steelers tenure with 153 receptions for 2,044 yards, and 12 touchdowns across 39 games.
