Nets Fire Steve Nash
It was always Steve Nash. I guess that’s what the Nets want you to believe anyway. The greatest circus in the NBA is making changes to their clown show operation. Brooklyn has officially fired head coach, Steve Nash. Jacque Vaughn will serve as the interim coach in the meantime.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN was the first to report the news:
“We want to thank Steve for everything he brought to our franchise over the past two-plus seasons,” general manager Sean Marks said in a statement Tuesday. “Since becoming head coach, Steve was faced with a number of unprecedented challenges, and we are sincerely grateful for his leadership, patience and humility throughout his tenure. Personally, this was an immensely difficult decision; however, after much deliberation and evaluation of how the season has begun, we agreed that a change is necessary at this time.”
Nash, 48, was let go after 2-5 start to the season. Of course, we have known that Kevin Durant has wanted this to happen for a while. Will the Nets play better without Nash? Probably not. Kyrie is still weird, Durant is past his prime, and the rest of the roster is just not great. Sorry, not sorry.
For what it’s worth, Nash also put out a statement too. In typical Nash fashion, he kept it classy too.
Rumor on the street is that Ime Udoka could become the next coach of the Nets. With Udoka on the outs with the Celtics, maybe the Nets will take a shot on him. Time will tell.
