Asante Samuel Warns Lamar Jackson About Playing For Bill Belichick

Who is Lamar Jackson going to play for in 2023? If Lamar has his way, it’s going to be for the Patriots. It’s since been reported that the Patriots aren’t interested. Known Bill Belichick hater, Asante Samuel, joined in anyway.

The former Patriots cornerback had a firm message for Lamar. The grass isn’t greener in New England.

This one is a bit of a double-edged sword. On one side, it’s clear by now Samuel hates Belichick. If you didn’t click that link in the opening paragraph, feel free to do so for more background. Either way, one could argue that winning two Super Bowls with the Patriots in 2004 and 2005 wasn’t the worst outcome. Was getting drafted by the Browns a better scenario?

On the flip side, are the Patriots really the best landing spot? Probably not.

Who are the weapons? Does Mike Gesicki and JuJu Smith-Schuster really tickle your fancy? In fact, I’d argue what the Patriots have is a downgrade from the weapons the Ravens have. Mark Andrews is more valuable by himself than the entire receiving core in New England.

Belichick also has no feel for the offensive side of the ball. Matt Patricia was the offensive coordinator last year and New England missed the playoffs. I’m not sure Mac Jones had a fighting chance last year. Are we positive this is the best spot for a quarterback? Tom Brady leaving was one thing. Winning a Super Bowl in Tampa immediately while Belichick struggles says a lot. Is new hire Bill O’Brien really going to fix everything?
