Tuli Tuipulotu 2023 NFL Draft Profile
Remember when I tried to tell you that Talanoa Hufunga was awesome? Good times. Maybe you should get with reality and listen to me for once. Somehow we live in a world where a gm took Jahmyr Gibbs at 12 but whatever. Guess what? Tuli Tuipulotu is his cousin and someone is going to get a steal on draft day with the USC product. Let’s review the 2023 NFL Draft profile on Tuli Tuipulotu.
Tuipulotu was a first team All American in 2022. This is no big deal but the USC product only led the country in sacks with 13.5. Probably means nothing to the dummies like Todd McFraud. Tuipulotu also ranked second in the nation in TFLs (22). Oh, and he did it on a defense that was terrible and commanded the entire attention of the offense. Often double and triple teamed.
6-foot-3, 266, and can line up everywhere. Athletic enough to drop in coverage and look good doing it. I think he can play defensive tackle if you want him to. Sounds a lot like Hufanga doesn’t it? This is just the defensive line version. No testing numbers from Tuipulotu but his combine was awesome in terms of pure movement skills.
More of a power player that’s not totally refined. Bit of a spazz but he has twitch in him. I think he will turn into more than we have already seen which is a really good player. Remember he’s just 20. There is some pop in his hands and he moves people. Former three star recruit that has actually slimed down and has become more explosive since doing so. Big time motor too. I know it’s something that’s overstated a lot but in this instance I think it’s true. He’s a mean Samoan that just wants to kill you. It’s all gas and he keeps coming.
I have Tuli Tuipulotu ranked as my 4th edge guy and I think I might be too low. I love this guy and think he will turn into a quality pro for a long time. I was right by the way the last time I said I was in on the cousin. I think I’ll be right this time around too.
