Trevor Etienne falls into a similar category with a lot of these running backs. This class is so loaded, but last year’s class was so weak. Where would a guy like this guy last year? We’re going to give the best possible rundown we can to project the Georgia product going forward. With that said, let’s get to this edition of the 2025 NFL Draft profile series!
NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 1, Week 3, Week 5, Week 8, Week 10, Week 11, Week 12, Week 14, Conference Championships, Sugar Bowl, Senior Bowl (1), (2), (3), Game
Etienne, 20, was a three star recruit coming out of the state of Louisiana in high school. The younger brother of Travis spent two years with Florida before finishing up with the rival Dawgs. If you read the stock notes, you will notice two themes…
A: His best games were against Texas. If you’re a believer, watch both of those games.
B: I don’t care what anybody says. Trevor > Travis.
On the surface, 2024 wasn’t exactly a lightning rod season on the raw numbers. Etienne posted 609 yards on 122 carries (5.0 YPC) with nine touchdowns. Also, add in 32 grabs for 194 yards through the air. It was actually his least efficient season and he had more success on the raw numbers at Florida. Freshman Nate Frazier even ate a significant chunk of the workload. That really doesn’t tell the full story. Etienne was never 100% missing time with a rib injury and lacking self-awareness, being suspended at the start of the year for a DUI.
With all that said, it’s easy to find reasons to buy into this player. Etienne has blown up during the pre-draft process in a good way. He was excellent during the Senior Bowl, especially on the third down stuff. That carried over to the Combine where he ran a 4.42 and aced all of the on-field drills. His pure route running ability is damn impressive. Ditto for the short area cuts and knee bend department.
The Jennings, Louisiana, native checks in at 5-foot-9, 198, and realistically can be a three down back at the next level. He can run between the tackles, the pass catching stuff is there, and he can even block at an adequate level. His vision and elusiveness are big check marks in his favor and any questions about burst or long speed went out the window during this process. 15 bench press reps is a decent number, too.
The more you dig into this, the easier it is to buy in here. Limited tread on the tires, super young, and has all the tools to project forward into a really quality player on all three downs. What is there not to like, minus the fact that he might be a knucklehead? I didn’t have the privilege to interview him, so I’m not even going to speculate on that part.
Trevor Etienne is a middle round guy for me, and I’m higher on him than the consensus. I think this running back class is ridiculous, and guys like Etienne, who are being forgotten about, will help push that narrative in the years to come. I will happily bet anyone that Trevor > Travis.
