Titans Fire Ran Carthon

The Titans clinched the first overall pick after a 3-14 season. It turns out that Ran Carthon will fall on the sword and will become the fall guy for the awful season in Nashville. Tennessee is officially looking for a new general manager.

NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport was the first to report the news:

A major move in Tennessee, as the #Titans are firing GM Ran Carthon.

“It’s impossible to ignore that our football team hasn’t improved over the past two years,” Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk said in a statement released by the team. “I am deeply disappointed in our poor win-loss record during this period.”

Carthon, 43, was hired in 2023 and is out of a job very shortly after. It’s not hard to find reasons why the Titans made this move. He was the one responsible for firing Mike Vrabel and decided that Will Levis was going to be the franchise quarterback. When you get those two areas of your football team horribly wrong, you’re asking to be fired.

You can go up and down the list of decisions that Carthon made while he had the job. It’s hard to find anything he got right during his time running the team.

Tennessee has a 9-25 record during his run as GM. Head Coach Brian Callahan will remain in place. President of football operations Chad Brinker will lead the search for the next GM.
