Someone Needs To Punch Mike Grier In The Face
I just did an article on Tom Telesco being accountable for his actions. Mike Grier is the antithesis of that and you’re truly not going to believe the story about the Sharks general manager.
Before I begin, let’s give a bit of a backstory. Grier is the worst general manager in hockey and it’s not close. He got robbed on the Brent Burns trade. He got robbed on the Timo Meier trade. He said a bunch of stupid things about Erik Karlsson and then got robbed on that trade too. I can keep going but I think you get the point. Grier has put a terrible hockey team on the ice and now we’re seeing the evidence of everything that I’ve been saying for months.
Am I just being a hater or is someone willing to acknowledge that Grier simply isn’t qualified to run an NHL team?
In the least surprising turn of events ever, Grier has failed to look in the mirror. Everybody else is the problem according to him. In the most arrogant move ever, Grier had a ‘one-sided’ meeting with the players.
“I just felt they needed to hear from me and what I’m seeing and what I expect from them,” Grier said. “To let them know what’s happening was not acceptable from my end. There are certain things I won’t tolerate and some of that stuff has been happening, and I kind of let them know that. We’ll kind of go from there.”
“I met with the players today,” Grier said. “It was one-way. I just felt they needed to hear from me and what I’m seeing and what I expect from them. I let them know what was happening was not acceptable.”
What an absolute joke. I would have punched Grier in the face on the spot. You picked the players, buddy. Nobody forced you to give up a draft pick for MacKenzie Blackwood for you to then cut him and then later overpay (that actually happened).
What changes are you going to make? Bring in more terrible players? The ego on this guy is incredible. In what world does this guy have the authority to have a one-sided conversation when he’s more brain-dead than a doorknob?
Ownership is not paying attention if they haven’t fired this guy already. The longer you leave this guy in charge, the more bad things will happen. The Sharks are so screwed. This team is going to suck for at least a decade if they don’t get this guy out of the building ASAP.
