Xavier Worthy: ‘Everybody’ Dreams To Play With Patrick Mahomes

Xavier Worthy most definitely saw his dreams come true last night, in more ways than one. After trading up to the No. 28 pick last night, the Kansas City Chiefs added the speedster to an already-loaded receiving crew.

The former Texas wide receiver told reporters that he had a feeling he was on Andy Reid‘s wishlist throughout the draft process. As well, he was even more excited by the potential dynamic between him and Patrick Mahomes in the passing game in 2024. Check out his remarks below:

“I’ve been saying it since the beginning of the year. ‘I’m going to the Chiefs.’ Everybody thought the NFL was never going to let the Chiefs get to me. But I’m here. I’m excited, man, just to be able to play with Pat… Everybody’s dream is to play with Patrick Mahomes, probably one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time,” Worthy said. “Just to be able to play for him, everybody talks about it. I’ve been saying it for a while.”

From the very beginning, this seemed like a natural fit. Funnily enough, Worthy wanted exactly this to happen weeks ago. Props to him for manifesting it. What confused fans more is why the Bills, who used to have the No. 28 pick, would aid the team that eliminated them from the playoffs last year by handing them a Tyreek Hill-esque player at a position of need. Especially after trading Stefon Diggs to the Texans, Buffalo has to add receiving help and quick.

The Rich Get Richer

What an addition this is for the back-to-back champs. They will be getting a guy who ran a 40-yard dash in a stunning 4.21 seconds. There may not be a better marriage of team and player for the rest of the draft. A wise man once said speed kills, and the additions of Worthy and Hollywood Brown help a lot in that department.

While the news surrounding Rashee Rice is unfortunate, all the team can do is focus on what happens on the football field. Of course, there are still two more days of drafting ahead. Brett Veach still has holes to fill on the offensive line and defense. Somehow, this team is going to get even better over the next few days.

It’s hard to argue against Kansas City for as long as Mahomes is their quarterback. Worthy is going to be yet another chess piece that will make defenses everywhere suffer. Some fans don’t want to hear it, but they are in position to become the first NFL team in almost 60 years to win three straight championships. It’s impossible to bet against them, especially with moves like these!

Xavier Worthy ended up exactly where he wants to be and it looks to be a lot of fun in Kansas City as a result. His dreams came true as Chiefs fans continued to dream of a three-peat.
