Rico Bosco is officially leaving Barstool Sports but we don’t exactly know where yet. Rumors are starting to leak about Rico’s new home. It would appear that Audacy has already reached an agreement. That just depends on whether those rumors turn out to be John Heyman’s sources (if you know, you know).
“I’m hearing that this company went and got him. How about that? morning show co-host Gregg Giannotti said Thursday. “He’s not coming to WFAN as far as I know. But he’s a betting guy, a gambling guy, so I’m assuming they’re going to use him with BetQL.”
Quick side note on Audacy. They need all the help they can get. They’re as desperate as it gets. They’re already bad journalists (I.E. Dan Mennella). Audacy’s stock is currently trading at 28 cents. Not exactly the most ideal thing in the world.
This also would not be the first Barstool personality Audacy hired. Trista Krick, who left Barstool last year, left for Audacy as well. The point here being that Audacy is not afraid to go after Barstool talent regardless of whatever drama follows. Krick has been creating content and is also on air doing hits with affiliates. It stands to reason that Bosco would fill a similar role. Maybe not with WFAN but BetQL instead.
Rico is also a notoriously bad gambling. Something he gets clowned on frequently at Barstool for. How will that go over at Audacy when he’s creating content for a very different set of viewers? That part remains to be seen.
The official announcement has not been made by Bosco but it appears that we have a favorite for his services. We will have an update for you once that announcement is confirmed.
