Sasha Banks set for major non-WWE event in January – Reports
Sasha Banks, real name Mercedes Varnado, has been away from wrestling for some time now. Herself and Naomi haven’t made a wrestling appearance since they walked out of a WWE taping due to unhappiness with the way they were being booked as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. That could be set to change in the near future.
PWInsider has stated that there are rumors Sasha Banks will be at Wrestle Kingdom 17 next month for New Japan Pro Wrestling. There is no information as to whether Sasha is set to wrestle or even make an appearance in front of a crowd, but it is by far the biggest news we have received regarding her future in wrestling.
If this report ends up to be true, it would be a huge loss for the WWE. Sasha Banks is one of the pioneers of the women’s revolution in WWE a few years back. I imagine Triple H will be putting in some hard work behind the scenes to try and keep Banks in the WWE. Ever since taking over as head of creative, Triple H has been bringing back stars of NXT left and right. Sasha Banks is an NXT legend and put on arguably the best match in NXT history against Bayley. Whichever company gets an opportunity to land her, they better hope they do not mess it up.
Sasha Banks is a top tier talent. Not just in women’s wrestling, but in wrestling as a whole. Professional Wrestling is better because of Sasha Banks. As a wrestling fan, once can only hope we see her return to the ring sooner rather than later.
