GTA VI will be the next entry in the storied Grand Theft Auto franchise, but there was a bit of a setback recently.
The last game in the series, Grand Theft Auto V, came out in 2013 and now, almost a decade later, Rockstar Games is creating the next title in the series. Expectations are extremely high for the next Grand Theft Auto game and a lot of gamers want to see the direction that Rockstar Games is going in for GTA VI.
Fans got a chance to take a peek behind the curtain when leaks came out surrounding the new game. The alleged hacker that leaked the in-development GTA footage was arrested on Sept. 22, according to a tweet from the City of London Police.
It is not confirmed if the 17-year-old was directly responsible for the Grand Theft Auto hack, but the individual was still taken into custody due to the investigation by UK’s National Cyber Crime Unit.
Leaks are nothing new for the gaming community. Frankly, it was not shocking to see Rockstar Games get hacked as GTA VI will be one of the biggest video games ever.
Rockstar Games addressed the incident by letting everyone know that they are continuing to work on GTA VI and that they are still focused on delivering a great game. The company’s full message can be seen below.
The upcoming GTA game release will be huge and have a big presence in popular culture. This is an entry that the gaming world has been paying attention to for years, as people eagerly await any fresh GTA-related news. The recent leak hinted at information that was already rumored as GTA VI was reported to have a female lead and a familiar setting.
Ultimately, as everyone looks past this chaotic incident, people will continue to keep an eye on any new GTA VI information. Hopefully next time, news about the game will be intentionally released by Rockstar Games and no alleged hackers will be arrested. Ironically, this story in itself sounds like a mission straight out of a past Grand Theft Auto game.
