Who The F**k Is That Guy? Mike Boone Fantasy Sleeper
It’s truly unfortunate what happened to Javonte Williams. He is out for the year due to an ACL and LCL tear after the Week 4 matchup with the Raiders. However, before people start looking at Melvin Gordon as the de facto RB1 for the Broncos, look towards Mike Boone who has serious fantasy sleeper potential.
If you’ve heard of Boone before, you’re either a Vikings fan or a complete nutcase that follows everything. Boone was only semi-relevant in 2019 when he had about 50 carries for 273 yards but other than that, he’s been pretty irrelevant. Now, he has a great chance to help you win a few weeks in your fantasy league.
How much faith are you realistically putting in Gordon, though? He got three carries with rushing rushing yards versus the Raiders and lost a fumble. Boone had three carries as well for 20 yards and has more of a receiving upside for the Broncos. Gordon should not even be an option.
However, there is a downside to this rationale. The Broncos did sign Latavius Murray, who can play a little bit. He’s a bit older but a solid veteran in the NFL. There is some hope for Boone as he knows the playbook better than Murray. It might take Murray a few weeks to acclimate to the new playbook. The Murray signing could strictly be for depth, too.
Either way, Boone’s fantasy sleeper stock just went way up. The league and the Broncos seem to be out on Gordon and might be in on Boone. Pick him up on your waiver wires pronto. If anything, a great week against the Colts could very well mean he’s a big sell-high player.
Ultimately, Mike Boone is the fantasy RB you want from the Broncos, not Melvin Gordon.
