Brian Branch 2023 NFL Draft Profile
I have Brian Branch listed as the top overall safety in the 2023 NFL Draft. What makes Branch so special and why is he the top guy in the class? Let’s have a chat. Here is your 2023 NFL Draft Profile!
I think Branch is a slightly less talented version of Minkah Fitzpatrick. I think that pretty much covers it. I don’t know why I don’t have notes from Branch at the Combine. All his movement skills resemble Fitzpatrick. Just not quite as fast. 4.58 is really the separator. Not as blazing.
This is a really good football player. Probably will become one of the best safeties in the league. Intincts are off the charts. Jack of all trades in terms of lining up all over the field. Can play nickel. Can play the box if he has to. Really good feet. Three sacks and two picks a year ago. Just a defensive weapon.
Recruiting profile has always been there too. Former four star recruit and third overall safety in the 2020 class. QB rating when targetted of 75.5 is really good for a guy who’s a natural safety. Play strength is good too. 14 reps on the bench for a safety who is 190 is great.
I have a firm first round grade on Brian Branch. Feels like one of the safest picks in the draft. Feel like I know exactly why I’m getting. A team like the Bengals would make a lot of sense as the Jessie Bates replacement. Every team simply needs a guy like this to calm things down in the secondary.
