A year ago I truly believed the Boston Celtics were title contenders. As I sit here today, it’s hard not to think that the Celtics are screwed. After failing to land Anthony Davis (who I was on record for not wanting anyway) and all indications pointing to Kyrie Irving leaving, the Celtics are currently in no man’s land. The Celtics are now stuck building around a core of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The problem is that may not be a good thing.

Both Tatum and Brown have shown flashes of brilliance. There’s no doubt about it. However, when developing young players, it’s also important to develop traits and playing styles. Both players have taken horrible routes. Tatum spent last offseason training with Kobe Bryant. Tatum picked up all of Bryant’s worst traits and none of his best ones. Tatum’s shot selection went down the toilet this year and so did his efficiency. A player is supposed to get better after their rookie year but Tatum didn’t because of his horrible shot selection. His field goal percentage dipped from .475 to .450 and 3-point from .434 to .373.

It’s not a coincidence that none of the players on this list have ever won anything. You don’t want any player on this list. Again, it’s not a secret that Russell Westbrook is the biggest cancer in the league that I’ve been trying to tell you for years. It’s no surprise Tatum is on this list. He’s a disaster in the mid-range game.

This video is the epitome of Tatum’s game in 2018. If this doesn’t change, he’s not an asset, he’s a negative. Do you know who exactly this looks like? Carmelo Anthony. Speaking of Carmelo (The single biggest cancer in NBA history) he actually factors in somehow.

I’m done. I can’t do this anymore. I thought Jaylen Brown was a smart guy. Working out with Carmelo? Seriously? There are a lot of pathways for Brown. Maybe he turns into a Jimmy Butler. I think that’s possible. There’s another possibility that Brown turns into a mediocre player at best. Brown is a bad ball handler, bad free throw shooter, and just average shooter in general. Brown is another guy obsessed with taking bad mid-range jumpers. Working out with bum ass Carmelo probably only accelerates more horrible decisions.

The Celtics are screwed. There’s no other way to put it. There’s no point guard on the roster. Terry Rozier is a disaster anyway. Gordon Hayward may never be the same after the horrific leg injury. Al Horford opted out but Boston seems to want him back and may strike a bad deal that takes Horford way too far into the future. What are the Celtics left with? Three first round picks? So what? There’s no other way to put it. The Boston Celtics are screwed and I don’t see a solution in sight.
