AEW Dynamite Preview (12/14/22): AEW World Title on the Line

AEW Dynamite is no ordinary Dynamite this week. This is a special edition called “Winter is Coming.” The show is supposed to have a pay-per-view feel and quality — and it does. The AEW World Championship will be on the line, and we will get another match in the AEW Trios Championship series. Plus, one of the most dangerous factions in AEW will return to action.

With so much that can unfold, let’s go over what to expect heading into AEW Dynamite.

Ruby Soho vs. Tay Melo

Ruby Soho made her return to AEW from an injury that she suffered at the hand of Tay Melo. Soho suffered a severe broken nose and had to get surgery to repair it. But Soho is as tough as they come so when she returned, she brought the fight to Melo.

Soho returned on AEW Dynamite to confront Melo and now the two are set to go one-on-one. While Melo has yet to hold any gold in AEW, she has been winning a lot of late. Melo has been competing on AEW Dark racking up some wins that are good for her momentum. Now, she is out to prove that she is better than Soho. With Anna Jay by Melo’s side, Soho needs to keep her head on a swivel if she wants to get revenge.

House of Black in action

House of Black have made their highly anticipated return as a group. It started with unsettling videos on social media but quickly turned to violence. They returned to AEW and immediately caused havoc. They have already taken out several people inside of AEW and are looking to continue their dominance.

Though their opponents haven’t been named yet, I would hate to be the team that is standing across the ring from them. One thing is certain, House of Black is one of the most violent and aggressive factions in all of professional wrestling and they are out to prove that on AEW Dynamite.

The Elite (1) vs. Death Triangle (2) (c)

The Elite had to relinquish their AEW Trios Championships following their suspension after All Out. As a result, Death Triangle won the Trios Championships and hasn’t let go of them since. They have proven they are a dominant and dangerous faction in AEW.

The Elite returned at Full Gear to challenge them for the titles, but Death Triangle was successful in the match. Following the match, Tony Khan announced that there will be a best-of-seven series for the AEW Trios Championship.

Death Triangle is up 2-1 on the Elite which makes this a crucial match. The Elite are looking to avoid a devastating 3-1 deficit which is almost impossible to come back from. Every match has been amazing between these two teams, so I expect this one to be no different on AEW Dynamite.

AEW World Championship Match

Ricky Starks vs. MJF (c)

MJF has been an absolute menace to AEW since winning the AEW World Championship at Full Gear. He has shown he can be even more despicable than he has been before. He attacked the man who helped him win the title, William Regal, and even slightly changed the design of the title.

But MJF is facing a man like none other in Ricky Starks, who won the AEW World title Eliminator Tournament to earn an opportunity at the world title. Starks also won the Dynamite Diamond Ring Royale to earn a shot to win the Dynamite ring that is worth $150,000.

Starks stated that he wanted to compete in the battle royale so he can take everything from MJF. The Two met face-to-face last week and it was epic. They had a great back-and-forth on the mic and Starks proved he can stand toe-to-toe with MJF on the mic. Now Starks has an opportunity to win his first title in AEW on Dynamite.
