WWE Monday Night RAW Results and Review (12/12/22)

WWE RAW Women’s Championship No. 1 Contender Match: Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss

This week’s episode of WWE Monday Night RAW kicked off with a No. 1 contenders match for the WWE RAW Women’s Championship. The champion, Bianca Belair, was ringside for the contest.

This was a really solid matchup, which ultimately led to an Alexa Bliss victory. After the match, Belair joined Bliss in the ring and offered her a handshake. Bliss responded with a hug, but quickly set up Belair in a Sister Abigail as the Bray Wyatt moth logo flashed on the screen. Bliss snapped out of it and stood back up. Both Bliss and Belair looked confused before the segment ended.

It looks like we are going to get a Wyatt and Bliss reunion, most likely during the WWE RAW Women’s Championship match.

AJ Styles vs. Chad Gable

This match was briefly set up backstage before the two men came to the ring. This was a really solid TV match. The technical wrestling here was a purist’s dream. The commentators were definitely trying to make it known that The OC and AJ Styles are on a hot streak right now. Styles picked up the win with an incredibly clean Styles Clash.

The Judgment Day vs. Street Profits and Akira Tozawa

This match was a lot of fun and was probably my favorite match on this episode of WWE Monday Night RAW.

Both members of the Street Profits have been missed greatly in their time away, so it has been really nice having them back. This had an incredibly entertaining fast paced finish. Dominik Mysterio got the pin on Tozawa to give his team the victory after a huge boot from Damian Priest.

All in all, The Judgment Day is one of the best things going on for the WWE right now.

Johnny Gargano and Dexter Lumis give away WWE merchandise

The next segment of the night saw Johnny Gargano and Dexter Lumis attempt to figure out what to spend all the money Lumis got from The Miz on. They ended up going to the merchandise stand and clearing them out. They entered the arena and began giving it all away to the WWE Universe.

Not before long, The Miz came out of nowhere and stole the money back from Dexter Lumis. Adam Pearce entered and did not let The Miz get away with it.

A match was set up next week for WWE Monday Night RAW. Lumis versus The Miz in a Ladder Match for the money! This should be a really fun one.

IYO SKY vs. Candice LeRae

These two women can wrestle any night of the week as far as I am concerned.

Two of the best in the business squared off on WWE Monday Night RAW. IYO SKY got the clean win after a solid back and forth battle. It will be interesting to see what direction they go from here.

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships still feel like props. Randomly defending them against thrown together tag teams every now and then doesn’t do anything beneficial.

Elias vs. Solo Sikoa

Before this match, we got a funny segment backstage between Elias and Kevin Owens. Owens still refuses to believe that Elias and his brother, Ezekiel, are different people.

Once Elias got to the ring, he sang a song for Matt Riddle, who was taken out by The Bloodline last week. Eventually, Sikoa made his entrance with Sami Zayn by his side. Sikoa hit the Spinning Solo to pick up the victory here.

After the match, Sikoa and Zayn were laying into Elias. Sikoa delivered a Samoan Spike before getting a chair and preparing to seriously injure Elias. It was at this time that Owens came out to the rescue. He did hit Elias with a stunner when it was all over just to remind him, he doesn’t like him.

Rhea Ripley vs. Asuka

Rhea Ripley is one of the most dominant wrestlers in the WWE women’s division currently. Her mean streak continued with a victory over Asuka here.

The major story in this match is that it appears Asuka may be going through a character change. In this match, she wrestled without face makeup for the first time in her WWE career. She has been teasing a return to her old character in other wrestling companies, Kana.

Fans would fully welcome the change as Asuka’s Kana character was one of the main things that landed her a WWE contract.

WWE United States Championship No. 1 Contender Match: Seth Rollins vs. Bobby Lashley

In the main event of this episode of WWE Monday Night RAW, we saw Seth Rollins take on Bobby Lashley for a shot at the WWE United States Championship.

This was a solid main event and ended with Seth Rollins getting the victory via Pedigree. This was the right call here. Austin Theory and Rollins have the potential to build a really entertaining package surrounding the WWE United States Championship.

After the match, Lashley was furious with the referee after a slow count seemingly cost him a victory. He put his hands on multiple WWE officials. This led to Pearce coming out and firing Lashley. This is going to be really interesting over the next couple of weeks to see what ends up happening.
