Christian Gonzalez 2023 NFL Draft Profile
Is Christian Gonzalez the best cornerback in the 2023 NFL Draft? He just might be. After a successful season at Oregon, the expectation is that Gonzalez goes in the top half of the draft. Let’s review the Christian Gonzalez 2023 NFL Draft profile and go over everything you need to know!
For starters, it was a fantastic decision to transfer out of Colorado. We know how that story went and Deion Sanders is now the coach after they won a singular game. Gonzalez was thought of to be a big recruit for Colorado. He was a four-star guy during the 2020 cycle.
Before I begin any further, I have to talk about the feet. They’re special. I just don’t know how the guy fails. It’s flawless. I talked about it at the combine over and over again. It’s textbook good.
I love this dude. I came on to the party late in the stock report notes but he really has great ball skills. Had a ridiculous interception against Oregon State. That was all part of a four interception and seven pass deflection campaign.
Has good size at 6-foot-1 with 32-inch arms. 4.38 speed is just insane. I didn’t see that coming but wow. Foot speed really quick. 41.5-inch vertical shows a lot of who he is. Really good a high pointing. Hands are really quality hands too.
The only real negative I see is sometimes I don’t see a dawg. Maybe he’s a half second slow in terms of diagnosis. I’m nitpicking at that point. Maybe there is an angle you don’t like and I saw a few missed tackles in the Georgia game. Other than that, I think you’re looking at a very quality starting cornerback at the next level.
I have a firm first round grade on Christian Gonzalez. He’s one of three corners I’m willing to take in the first round. He should have a very nice career and has Pro Bowl level potential. It’s everything you’re looking for out of a high end cornerback and I just fail to see how he fails based on the feet he has.
