The third day of the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine is here! The defensive lineman, edge rushers, and linebackers take the field today. You can never have enough guys to attack the quarterback and that’s what we’re here to discuss. A year ago, Nick Bosa came here and solidified his place a top the draft. Who stood out for better or worse at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine?

*Chase Young did not workout today. I don’t blame him. He’s a gold jacket guy. No need to worry.

The Elite

Chase Young did not workout. End of elite section.

The Next Tier

Bradlee Anae isn’t a super twitch but I thought his feet were ok. He’s not a great athlete. Portion of the drills where he has to flip his hips and turn. Anae fell over. His initial burst is ok but in terms of dominant athlete? No way. 1.68 10 yard time is good. Running close to a 5.00 isn’t. The good news is I think his burst is above average. We saw that at the Senior Bowl.

Here’s the good news for AJ Epenesa. I thought his hand usage was fantastic. Hand fighting was great and come around the bags tight and clean. The bad news is the question I had about him got answered. Not in a good way. Epenesa is not an explosive athlete. 5.05 at 275 is pretty much what I thought going in.

Watch him here. His hand work is great. Good punch and plus technique. The downside is athletic traits. I have another clip where him going around the circles in the towel drill he’s totally off balance. This is the toughest player to grade.

Sleepers

Alton Robinson had an up and down day. His 40 time and 10 yard time were impressive. During the mirror drills, he really cheated and tried to anticipate instead of reacting. Though he got caught in the mud sometimes going around. On his heels a ton. Didn’t trust his feet going through foot work. Eyes down the whole time. Then again, I thought he did a great job dipping and bending around the corner. Thought he proved himself at the Senior Bowl. Overall, still in on Robinson.

Defensive Tackle

Raekwon Davis did not belong in this group. Davis is 311 and was really slow compared to other edge rushers (). I also don’t think he looked good in general. Slow movement skills. Even his hands. No punch or pop with them either. Weak ass punch and super high in drills. I thought it was a bad workout. Going around the circles in the towel drill, he couldn’t even bend down and grab the second towel. It was shockingly bad.

No Thanks

Yetur Gross Matos looked horrendous. Couldn’t change direction to save his life. It’s one thing to not be smooth, it’s another fall over constantly. It was bad. His eyes were down doing footwork drills. Really high and upright too. Very raw upside player. I think he can make it but there’s a lot of work to go here.

Kenny Willekes is just not a good athlete. His best drill is going down hill. Had a good spin move in the drills.

Jabari Zuniga is a fast guy, not a polished one. Fast but not quick. He got his ass kicked at the Senior Bowl.

4-3

Jonathan Greenard stood out to me. You can just see him coming off the edge. He’s not nearly twitchy as I thought he was. I thought his workout was good but I didn’t see the burst coming off the edge. This is another hard one. I like the player but I needed to see a better jump off the line. 1.71 10 yard time is fine but not special.

Tweener

I don’t know what position James Lynch is but I thought he moved well. 289 pounds, really short arms less than 32 inches. 5.01 40 time. Tough call here. No idea what he is.

Jason Strowbridge really got going. No idea what position he is either but I’m buying. I don’t even know how to describe him. That’s why he’s in this category. 3rd down inside rusher.

Other Notes

Chauncey Rivers was popping out of his shoes constantly. Hard to evaluate that. After that incident, Rivers balled OUT! Rivers weighed in at 262 which was surprising cause I think he’s a 3-4 defensive end. He looked super agile in the drills. Natural athlete that could bend his knees and get grooving. This is a tough one. Overall, I thought he was excellent. Clean pass rushing around the bags. He looks faster than 95 percent of the other guys going through drills.

Kendall Coleman had a serious punch. Not the great footwork but solid punch.

Keep an eye on Malcolm Roach too. Held his own in everything.
