The defensive lineman took the field at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine. Who stood out for better or worse when it comes to the 2020 NFL Draft? (Michael Hickey/Getty Images)

It’s the third day at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine! Today the defensive lineman, edge rushers, and linebackers take part in the drills. I love this day and it really encapsulates how athletic these guys are for their size. It’s a fun day to watch. Which defensive lineman stood out for better or worse at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine?

*No Javon Kinlaw today. He did not workout.

*It’s been a long 3 days. Maybe I was delirious but I didn’t see Marlon Davison on the field. I saw him run a 5.04 but that was it.

The Elite

Derrick Brown was the best defensive tackle I saw all year. He plays with great leverage and you saw that today. His change of level and hip switch was great. Probably even better than I expected for a player that wins with power. I thought his feet were really good going through the bags. Turning the corner with ease. Everything looked easy to Brown. No change here. Dude is a monster. 6-foot-4, 326 pound machine. 28 bench reps too!

The Next Tier

Neville Gallimore had a nice day. He’s more athletic than I gave him credit for. No issues working out for Gallimore. I thought he really excelled. His 40 time and 10 yard time speak for themselves (4.79). 1.71 10 yard time is great too. He also threw a hell of a haymaker in the bag drills. He wanted to kill someone out there. Stock up.

I thought Rashard Lawrence struggled a bit in drills. Had a really hard time today. Lawrence was always big way too high and never staying low. Can’t stress it enough, was super high in drills. I thought his hands were going crazy. Totally out of control. One of the more disappointing workouts to me. No knee bend. I’ll have to watch closer but I can’t imagine he wins a ton of hand fighting inside.

You can see Justin Madubuike is a good athlete. He’s not quite twitched up but once he gets going, he moves. Overall a good day.

Davis and Davis

Two twins from Nebraska flashed. Carlos and Khalil Davis put on a show. Both ran super fast times (K Davis at 4.75 and C Davis at 4.83) and went through drills like lightning. Both are low center of gravity wrecking balls. Here’s what I’m talking about. They both had the lowest 10 yard times from the group too.

Sleepers

I thought Robert Windsor impressed me during the Senior Bowl. I loved his motor. I thought he got exposed today. He got asked to move in space and it didn’t go well. Stumbling and bumbling. Looked like he had two left feet. I love his motor but the talent level is in question.

DaVon Hamilton did a nice job, in my opinion. He’s not an uber athlete but he really did a nice job staying in control. 33 reps on the bench press too is a great number.

There was a moment that stood out to me. Josiah Coatney lost his shoe in the middle of a drill. No problem and completed it like a pro. Looked pretty good doing it too. Showed great balance and control.

No Thanks

Something is missing with Jordan Davis too. His balance and feet are just a bit off. Ankle flection was bad too. Tight hips. Rough workout.

Nose Tackles

McTelvin Agim would have been here but he pulled up running the 40. He did some nice things in the collegiate All-Star games.

Other Notes

Ross Blacklock was a tricky one for me. I can’t say I watched a ton of TCU this year. I thought there was a moment in the bag drills. Blacklock went through the bag drill and kind of lost the point of attack going outside the cone. The next play, Derrick Brown used his hands perfectly and stayed inside the cone. Those are the kind of things you watch to separate people. There’s no question he’s got some athletic traits. I don’t think he really emerged in one direction or another.
