Wii Sports Is One of the Best Sports Video Games of All Time

Yeah, I said it. Wii Sports is one of the best sports video games of all time. That’s not a slight in any way to any other sports video game. Nintendo’s motion-sensor sports game is just that good. It’s up there with any of the others.

I don’t think there’s any aspect of Wii Sports that isn’t fun. Wii Bowling is a classic that everyone loves. I’ll take anyone in Wii Baseball. Wii Boxing is awesomely chaotic and fun to play with friends. Wii Golf is elite, providing clear game-specific skills you can develop. For me, Wii Tennis is the only one that’s hit or miss, but it’s not like it’s bad.

EA has ruined games like Madden with microtransactions and lack of innovation. 2K has a ton of flaws as well. Wii Sports has aged extremely well. It’s simple, it’s easy to pick up, and it’s tons of fun. Plus, your movement actually influences the game, unlike games where you’re just pressing buttons. For a game that came out in 2006, it was way ahead of its time. It went on to spawn another great spinoff in Wii Sports Resort.

The Wii died out too fast considering it hosted one of the best sports video games of all time.
