I just want to have a quick chat about something because I don’t quite understand it. Everyone seems to be convinced that this new look Ravens offense seems to be a lock to produce under Todd Monken. I’m someone that believes Greg Roman will be owed an apology down the line, but time will tell on that. I keep hearing the same line over and over again. Have you seen their weapons? Yes, I have and I’m tired of sitting here pretending that Odell Beckham is going to be the lightning rod that gets the Ravens over the hump.
I just don’t buy that Odell is a positive asset in Baltimore. This is a marriage that will go down in flames. You’re asking a flawed quarterback to do more of the thing he sucks at and do less of the thing he’s good at. It doesn’t make any sense. You’re then adding a diva wide receiver to that mix that’s going to whine and complain about his target share. We do remember the fact that Odell statistically tanked Baker Mayfield, right?
Keep in mind, it’s now been years where we have seen Odell be a positive asset in fantasy football. OBJ hasn’t been a top 20 wide receiver in fantasy since 2018. We do realize how long ago that was, right?
The best wide receiver on the Ravens roster is Zay Flowers and it’s not close. He was my WR1 coming out of the draft and already looks like a stud in camp. Flowers is the real deal.
Devin Duvernay is also an ascending player. He’s the fastest receiver on the team and started to breakout last year notching 407 yards and three scores. He’s going to eat into this offense more than people think. The talent Duvernay has is real and he probably will be the slot guy this year.
That’s not even including former first round pick Rashod Bateman. Baltimore also brought in Nelson Agholor this offseason too. Oh, and Baltimore has two tight ends in Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely.
If you can get Odell Beckham for free, sure, go ahead and take the shot. I’m just not spending any amount of significant resources to go get Odell in fantasy. What’s the point? The name value will significantly outweigh the actual production on the field for Baltimore.
