The running back class for the 2022 NFL Draft is considered a strong one. Iowa product Tyler Goodson is just one of many studs flying under the radar this predraft process. I’m higher than most on Goodson as he’s comfortably in my top tier running back list. Let’s go over the draft profile for everything you need to know on Tyler Goodson.

I think knee bend stands out the most here. You’re hoping Goodson turns out to be everything Anthony McFarland was unable to be. An explosive back that can make you miss, make plays in the passing game, and able to hit the home run ball.

Goodson is also bigger than he gets credit for. Can run between the tackles and weighed in just under 200 at the combine. The speed here is legit. 4.42 is a number we’ll take all day from our running back. This is a guy that can run real routes too. Goodson can be a serious threat in the passing game. The route tree, again, is very real.

Goodson isn’t perfect. There are times he dances a bit much. He’s not going to be trucking dudes at the NFL level. It remains to be seen how often he’s going to create yards after contact. I’m not sure any of that matters. His knee bend and foot quickness is off the charts good. If anyone becomes the Austin Ekeler of this class, I’ll bet it’s Goodson.

Yes, Iowa has a great offensive line but Goodson more than did his part. The Hawkeyes running back rushed for 1,151 yards this past season. He’s more than just a third down guy at the next level. Certainly has talent to carry more of a workload.
